About the Position: The incumbent monitors, administers and manages various programs to provide direct support to members in the United States Army, with emphasis upon the United States Army Reserve.
Duties
Initiate, review, and/or assist in completion of personnel management actions in various areas.
Initiates Promotions, board support, benefit programs, awards and decorations, retirements, occupational specialties, ID cards, commissary cards.
Maintains either a permanent or temporary record of the action using various automated or manual systems.
Maximizes the resources and authority of the position to assist the soldier through oral and written communication.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
- Appointment to this position is subject to a one year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315. While probationary the incumbent can be terminated with limited appeal rights.
- This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 10% of the time.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Specialized Experience Required: One year of specialized experience which includes performing administrative personnel actions in functional areas as: Transition, Retention, Retirement and Separation, United States Army Board Support, entitlements, benefits, awards and decorations, and corrections to military records; using personal computer to input, extract, query, and research data in military personnel database systems as well as performing office applications; processing military personnel appointment actions. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06) (or equivalent).
Some Federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for required experience in order to qualify. For this position, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone. Substitution of education for experience is NOT permitted.
