The primary purpose of this position is to exercise technical and administrative supervision over subordinate workers in accomplishing trades and labor work of heavy mobile equipment mechanics engaged in maintenance, repair of refueling trucks and special purpose vehicles and equipment.

- Prolonged standing and walking, bending, working in strained, uncomfortable positions, lifting items weighing up to 50 pounds

- This is a key position. Incumbent must be removed from their military recall status if alternatives for filling the position during an emergency are not available, per AFI 36-507, Atch 5.11
- The duties of this position meet all requirements as a category 4 designation
- and shall not be vacated during a national emergency or mobilization without seriously impairing the capability of the parent Federal Agency or office to function effectively.
- This position must be removed from the Ready Reserve and cannot become a member of the Ready Reserve. (IAW: DoDD 1200.7, "Screening the Ready Reserve,")
Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS: Applicants will be rated in accordance with the OPM Qualification Standard Handbook X-118C for the WG-5800 Transportation/Mobile Equipment Group. Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most blue-collar positions, you must meet any screen-out element listed, and show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying. Qualification requirements emphasis is on the quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time.
The screen out element for this position is ability to do the work of a WS-5803 HEAVY MOBILE EQUIPMENT MECHANIC SUPERVISOR more than normal without supervision.
JOB ELEMENTS: Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
I. Knowledge of a wide range of principles, processes, and techniques of refueling and special purpose vehicles and equipment, repair work, personnel management policies, practices, and procedures, including sexual harassment and Equal Employment Opportunity/ Equal Employment Treatment.
2. Knowledge of safety regulations, practices, and procedures relating to refueling and special purpose vehicle and equipment maintenance.
3. Knowledge of the use and maintenance of hand and power tools, equipment, and precision measuring and /or test equipment common to refueling and special purpose vehicle and equipment maintenance.
4. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, sketches, and technical specifications relating to refueling and special purpose vehicle and equipment maintenance.
5. Ability to plan and organize work assignments to include determining resources required to accomplish mission. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
7. Performs other related duties as required.
PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
