Duties

Conduct vegetation monitoring studies based on general guidance and direction from the rangeland management specialist. Inventory, monitor, and map existing weed populations utilizing global positioning systems. Identify needed range improvements; inspect and inventory existing range improvements to ensure they were constructed and are being used as approved. Mix, maintain, and calibrate herbicides and pesticides for use in rangeland environments. Qualifications

No assumptions will be made about your experience. For GS-05: You musthave one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-04. Examples of specialized experience may include working with livestock/grazing activities, operating hand and power tools, installation of fence posts or field activities. -OR- Education: Successfully completed a 4-year course of study above high school leading to a bachelor's degree with courses related to the position. - OR- Combination of Education and Experience: Have an equivalent combination of experience and education described above. For GS-06: You musthave one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-05. Examples of specialized experience may include working with livestock/grazing activities, operating hand and power tools, installation of fence posts or field activities. Performing administrative tasks such as records management, data entry and exhibiting excellent oral/written communication skills. -OR- Education: Have some graduate education above a bachelor's degree or internship directly related to the work of the position. - OR- Combination of Education and Experience: Have an equivalent combination of experience and education described above. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. You must meet all qualification requirements by the closing date of the announcement. Physical Demands: The work ranges from sedentary when completing duties in the office to frequent field work requiring a considerable amount of walking, riding, stooping, bending, and lifting. Work Environment: Office work is performed in adequately lighted, heated, and air-conditioned offices. Much of the time is spent in the field where exposure to extremes of heat and cold, rough terrain, insects, snakes, and other hazards are common. The incumbent carefully adheres to all safety procedures to mitigate hazards encountered.
