You will serve as a a Heavy Mobile Equipment Mechanic Leader in the Transportation Department, Operations and Maintenance Division, Navy Public Works Center of NAVFAC SOUTHWEST.

Duties

You will Determine sequence of operations, skill set requirements, material, tooling, and facilities needed to accomplish heavy mobile equipment work assignments. You will Troubleshoot heavy mobile equipment engines, transmissions, and other components to identify malfunctions. You will Use hand tools and gauges when replacing parts, performing tune-up adjustments, and resetting components.

  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment.

  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

The Screen-out Element for this position is: 1) Improvising tools and/or altering standard techniques and procedures to accomplish repair; 2) Identifying individual work task requirements and/or providing a shop repair order or trip ticket to accomplish all tasks; 3) Skilled in the use of tools and equipment used in the trade such as torque wrenches, brake tools, gear pullers, compression testers, and/or vacuum analyzers.
