About the Position: The incumbent will perform a combination of motor vehicle operating and fuels distribution duties in support of a unit assigned the mission of receiving, storing, and issuing petroleum, oil, and lubricant (POL) products, to include deliveries to range sites.
Duties
Operates a 20-ton truck tractor with a 5000-gallon capacity trailer or semi-trailer, to haul and dispense automotive, aircraft and diesel fuel, and oils and lubricants, to various locations on post and to remote areas.
Operate 5-ton tanker fuel truck with capacity of 2400 gallons and operates 2 1/2-ton fuel truck with capacity of 750-1200 gallons, to haul and dispense automotive, aircraft and diesel fuel, and oils and lubricants.
Drives over public highways, desert roads and mountain passes.
Performs fuel distribution work such as pumping gasoline, oil and jet fuel, handling lines and hoses and measuring fuels as they are received, stored, transferred, or loaded into equipment.
Delivers and sets up storage fuel tanks and drums of various sizes, to furnish fuel for generators at work sites.
Operates a service station in receipt, storage and issue of gasoline, oils and other products for vehicles and equipment used throughout area.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Must obtain and maintain a current Class A -Commercial Driver's License with the Hazardous Materials Endorsement.
- This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.
- The duties of this position require the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License in one of the 50 U.S. states or possessions to operate vehicles.
- This position has a requirement to lift up to 50 pounds in the regular performance of duties.
- This position requires the completion of a mandatory 40-hour Hazardous Waste Operations Training course, within 30 days of employment, and an 8-hour Refresher course annually.
- The duties of this position meet the criteria for compliance with Federal and Department of the Army Drug Free Workplace Programs:
- This position is subject to a pre-employment screening, and random testing thereafter, to include testing based on reasonable suspicion and testing due to direct involvement with an on-duty accident.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) Motor Vehicle Operator~ without more than normal supervision. I have the ability to perform common Motor Vehicle Operator duties. I can check weight limitations of vehicles operated in accordance with state law regulations, determining best vehicle to use to transport cargo to its destination, and performing maintenance checks to ensure vehicles are in proper working order. I work under normal supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed. - Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating.

Physical Effort: Heavy physical effort is used in, reaching, banding, turning, or moving hands armor feet and logo to operate hand and foot controls on heavier vehicles and to operate additional controls. Exerts light to moderate physical effort while coupling and uncoupling pumping equipment. Seldom lifts over 50 pounds, but requires Considerable standing, walking, banding, working in cramped conditions, and climbing on tanks, rigging and other equipment.
Working Conditions: Works outside in all kinds of weather conditions while loading and unloading vehicles. Drives in all types of traffic and weather and is exposed to the possibility of serious accidents and subject to cuts, bruises and broken bones from such accidents. Follows safety regulations and uses safety equipment and precautions to avoid danger from fumes, flames and explosions or to avoid slipping or falling from equipment.
