This position is located at the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), Veterans Health Administration (VHA), VA Medical Center, in Salem, VA. The primary purpose of this position is to transport patients and their caregivers, as well as linens, equipment, and/or other related items throughout the medical center. Medical center vehicles may have attachments such as hydraulic lifts and folding ramps.
Duties
This position is in Supply Chain Management (SCM) in a Veteran Affairs Health Care System (VA HCS) and supported catchment area. The primary purpose of this position is transporting Veterans, visitors, staff and supplies and equipment from the main warehouse to various locations at an assigned Veterans Administration medical facility and any additional location, i.e., Outpatient Clinic (s), National Cemetery, and VA Regional office, as needed. Major duties and responsibilities include:
Qualifications
In order to qualify for this position you must meet the following requirements.
(SCREEN OUT) Do you have the ability to perform the duties of a motor vehicle operator without more than normal supervision? This experience includes operating vehicles such as shuttle carts/golf carts, vans, pickup trucks, panel trucks, flatbed trucks, carryalls, sedans, crew cab pickup trucks, and sports utility vehicles; performing cargo loading and unloading; performing routine safety and maintenance checks.
PHYSICAL EFFORT AND WORK CONDITIONS: While operating motor vehicles, the position exerts light physical effort in reaching, bending, turning, or moving hands, arm, feet and legs to operate hand and foot controls. May need to exert effort to make emergency repairs, such as changing a flat tire. Frequently, bends, lifts and carries equipment, supplies or materials up to 40 pounds.
