Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.
About the Position: This position is a TERM appointment not to exceed 3 years. This position may be extended in one year increments up to eight years and may be converted to a permanent appointment without further competition.
Duties
Implementation of wildlife and fisheries management techniques.
Operating equipment such as tractors, All Terrain Vehicles (ATVs), Utility Task Vehicles ( UTVs) and attachments to conduct wildlife and fisheries habitat management.
Identifying and managing invasive plants.
Implementation of wildland fire management.
Interaction with the public to relay hunting and fishing information regarding Fort Knox program.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position requires incumbent to obtain and maintain a valid, State-issued driver license to operate a motor vehicle.
- This position requires incumbent to wear safety and/or use protective equipment.
- This position requires incumbent to obtain and maintain a Department of Defense Pesticide Applicator Certification in categories 2, 3, 5, and 6, or be able to obtain within 12 months and maintain recertification.
- Temporary Duty Travel (TDY) up to 10% of the duty time is required.
- The employee may be required to work nights and weekends.
- This position requires you to pass a pre-placement medical and annual medical surveillance exam in accordance with Occupational Health requirements.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes managing wildlife, fisheries and habitats including experience with invasive species, wildland fire and operating equipment to manage natural resources based on guidelines. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-04).
OR
Education: Four year course of study leading to a bachelor's degree that included a least 24 semester hours in any combination of scientific or technical courses such as biology, chemistry, statistics, entomology, animal husbandry, botany, physics, agriculture or mathematics. At least 6 semester hours of courses must have been directly related to the position to be filled.
OR
Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of education beyond two years (total semester hours minus 60) by 60. Add the two percentages.

FOREIGN EDUCATION: If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.
