About the Position: This position is located in Camp Lejeune, North Carolina. This is a Direct Hire Solicitation Salary negotiation may be available for those candidates who are new to Federal service. Certified Dental Laboratory Technician is preferred for this position.

Duties

Independently manufacture intricate dental prostheses within exacting technical tolerances as requested by prescribing doctors to ensure properly finished product. Independently fabricate the full range of fixed, removable and Implant prostheses. Plan, organize and direct case assignments, workloads and production schedules of fixed and removable prostheses. Serve as technical advisor in the area of fixed partial denture laboratory technology to the Laboratory Officer. Assist in problem solving and trouble shooting in fixed and removable prostheses fabrication and dental material/product evaluation. Fabricate all ceramic restorations, keeping current with emerging technologies. Provide quality assurance review of lab product fabrication at work area assigned to in the lab.

• Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.

• This position is subject to a pre-employment screening, and random drug testing, to include testing based on reasonable suspicion and testing due to direct involvement with an on-duty accident.
• This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.
• This position has mandatory seasonal Influenza vaccination requirements and is subject to annual seasonal Influenza vaccinations unless otherwise exempted for medical or religious reasons (documentation of exemption must be provided upon hire).
• This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.
• This position requires that you obtain and maintain a Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from, or in accordance with, the American Heart Association and American Red Cross. Advanced certification (e.g., ALS) does not supersede BLS.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Experience required: In order to qualify for this position, your resume must demonstrate that you possess at least one year of specialized experience which includes interpreting and applying dental prescriptions, fabricating fixed dental prosthetics, fabricating removable dental prosthetics and providing technical assistance to dental laboratory staff, clinical dental staff, and support functions for clinical Dentists This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service GS-08. OR Education: Successful completion of a master's degree or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform the work of the position, such as Dentistry from an accredited college or university. OR Combination of Experience and Education Substitution: If you have some, but not all, of the experience or education described above, you may still qualify by combining the amount of creditable experience and education that you possess. To compute the percentage, divide your total months of qualifying experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of graduate education beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages. The total percentage must equal at least 100% to qualify. Licensed Dentist: Licensed professional dentists will be considered qualified for any grade level if they have, in the aggregate, the required experience in dental laboratory procedures.
