About the Position: Serves as an Engineering Technician within the Directorate of Strategic Management, Production Engineering Division, Letterkenny Army Depot. Performs a variety of technical engineering tasks and assignments in support of production and repair of weapons systems and weapon components.
Duties
Performs a wide range of engineering and technician functions and assignments during all or some of the phases of the life cycle of major weapons systems.
Assist with planning the scope of project, necessary funds, manpower, and/or production methods, techniques and requirements required to support the mission.
Represents the organization when meeting with contractors, foreign dignitaries, professionals, and other government organizations.

- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
Qualifications
Term Appointment NTE 13 months - Position may be filled as a Term Appointment NTE 3 years. Term appointments may be extended beyond of six (6) years, up to eight (8) years. With DoD approval, Term appointments may be extended beyond eight (8) years.
Current permanent Federal employees (to include permanent Army employees) applying for a Term appointment will be appointed/converted into a Term appointment with no statutory return rights back to a permanent position.

Specialized Experience GS-07
One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-06 grade level in the Federal service which includes assists in the determination of test and evaluation requirements associated with weapons systems. Assists in the preparation of test plans, overall cost, interchangeability and standardization between weapons systems, and overall efficiency.
Specialized Experience GS-08
One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-07 grade level in the Federal service which includes Assist in prototyping and testing items, such as interface test adapters, weapons systems, operating software support devices, or other similar tasks.
Specialized Experience GS-09
One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-08 grade level in the Federal service which includes assist higher-graded technicians or engineers in operating, troubleshooting, and isolating faults of various weapons system.
Specialized Experience GS-10
One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-09 grade level in the Federal service which includes reviews drawings and specifications, recommending appropriate corrections to cognizant project engineer. Manages test area to ensure tests are performed properly, safely, and meets all appropriate security requirements.
Specialized Experience GS-11
One year of specialized experience equivalent to at the GS-10 grade level in the Federal service which includes working on projects involving weapons systems to modify or improve weapons systems; use precision instruments and devices sufficient to assemble and install equipment.
Specialized Experience GS-12
One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service which includes: preparing designs and specifications for weapons systems and other engineering projects; identify, evaluate, and recommend appropriate solutions to resolve complex problems and issues related to weapons systems; establish criteria, formulate project criteria and assess program effectiveness; develop innovative methods, approaches sufficient to product design, testing requirements, production techniques, and characteristics and functions of weapon products and systems.

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-05).
GS-08
