This position is part of the National Archives and Records Administration (NARA), St. Louis Preservation and Conservation Branch. This position uses expertise in preservation and digitization to determine the best approach to research and develop projects, consult with other divisions and agencies, train preservation and other divisions and make recommendations on preservation and digitization actions, and schedule, coordinate and execute projects within set deadlines.
Duties
As a Senior Preservation Specialist, you will:
Independently carry out day-to-day operations, program planning and overseeing complex projects for the branch.
Serve as the liaison to external and internal departments located at the National Personnel Records Center and keep the Preservation Officer apprised of upcoming projects and issues that impact the St. Louis Preservation Program Labs.
Review the quality of work produced to assure the highest level of accuracy and consistency
Assist in developing, revising, or updating procedures, manuals, and training guides.
Perform training and provide technical guidance or assistance in the methods and techniques of the treatment work, preservation, reformatting and digitization of the holdings at NARA.
Qualifications
You must meet the following requirements within 30 days of the closing date of this announcement.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: For the GS-12, you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position includes:
Communicating with customers internally and externally to provide information and resolve issues; AND
Resolving complex preservation, conservation, reformatting and/or digitization issues; AND
Leading a team, program or project, using time management to complete work within set deadlines; AND
Analyzing, evaluating or developing formal policies and procedures.
In addition to the above requirements, you must meet the following time-in-grade requirement, if applicable:
For the GS-12, you must have been at the GS-11level for 52 weeks.
