This position is located in Denali National Park and Preserve, in the Maintenance Division.

Duties

Duties include but are not limited to the following: Overhauls, repairs, services and maintains heavy equipment such as bulldozers, graders, snowblowers, 10-yard dump trucks, loaders, and other construction equipment including screen plants and crushers. Provides preventative maintenance of heavy equipment and vehicles in accordance with manufacturers' standards, and park and GSA policies. Troubleshoots causes of mechanical problems and makes repairs. Completes welding repairs on plows, blades, and structural members and fabricates parts from raw stock. Leads other mechanics in the shop and sets up repair schedules for graders, bulldozers, and dump trucks. The National Park Service (NPS) has determined that the duties of this position are suitable for situational telework or during an emergency or natural disaster with prior supervisor approval. Career-Seasonal appointments are permanent positions and include the same benefits as Career appointments, but do not provide work on a year-round basis. You will work from approximately early February through mid-December, and you will be in a non-pay status for the remainder of the year (mid-December through January).

To qualify for this position, you must have sufficient knowledge and ability in the following job-related factors and meet any screen outs by the closing date of this announcement: By the entrance on duty date, you must have a Class A Commercial Driver's License and medical examiner's certificate with no disqualifying offenses (SCREEN OUT) - You must submit a copy of your CDL with NO PHOTOS and a copy of your current medical examiner's certificate. If you do not currently posses a Class A CDL and medical examiner's certificate, indicate the date you anticipate to receive it on your resume.
