You will serve as a Welder in the of FRCMA VRT Department, Norfolk Production Branch of FLTREADCEN DET MID ATLANTIC PAX RIVER.

Duties

You will analyze blueprints to decide the best method to complete welding work. You will use drill presses, power grinders, power punches, and benders to shape parts. You will maintain a clean welding work environment by keeping the area free of hazards (e.g., hoses, welding leads, hand tools, supporting equipment). You will braze or solder metals (e.g., steel, steel alloys, tool steel, brass, copper) to perform work. You will demonstrate welding techniques, procedures, and safety precautions to welder trainees.

  • This position is considered Key/Emergency-Essential. You will be required to provide immediate and continuing support to ensure the success of combat operations or the availability of combat-essential systems.
  • This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • You will be required to complete training, obtain, and maintain a government credit card for travel and travel-related purchases.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver’s license.
  • This is a bargaining unit position.

Qualifications
