You will serve as a TELECOMMUNICATIONS SPECIALIST in the Resource Management Division in the Base Communications Department of NAVAL COMP TELCOM AREA WESTPAC.

Duties

You will serve as trouble desk reporting technician, processing incoming trouble calls received from internal and external customers. You will coordinate troubleshooting efforts and service restoration using established priority systems. You will coordinate corrective maintenance with supporting Base level Communications division workcenter and commercial technicians. You will prepare trouble report status updates to leadership and other pertinent Base Communications Office personnel. You will provide technical assistance to telecommunications system installers.

Requirements

  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
  • Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.

  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • You will be required to complete training, obtain, and maintain a government credit card for travel and travel-related purchases.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • This position is considered Key/Emergency-Essential. You will be required to provide immediate and continuing support to ensure the success of combat operations or the availability of combat-essential systems.

Qualifications

Applicants must have directly applicable experience that demonstrates the possession of knowledge, skills, abilities, and competencies necessary for immediate success in the position. Qualifying experience may have been acquired in any public or private sector job, but will clearly demonstrate past experience in the application of the particular competencies or knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to successfully perform the duties of the position. Such experience is typically in or directly relates to the work of the position to be filled. Qualifying experience would be demonstrated by: 1) Experience with telecommunications help desk and trouble ticket processes, systems, and operations. 2) Providing basic technical assistance and support with system testing to telecom installers. This position is within the Work Category Technician & Admin Support at Work Level Full Performance. Series and Grade GG-07. Applicants may substitute the following education for the required experience, provided it demonstrates the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to do the work in evaluating, analyzing, developing, managing, or improving communications systems, procedures, and requirements that demonstrated knowledge of current developments and trends in communications concepts and technology:

1 full year of graduate level education

superior academic achievement
