This position is located at the Lawton Service Unit (LSU) within the Quality and Informatics department. The incumbent serves to enhance the patient experience and improve the quality of care by guiding patients through complexities encountered within the healthcare system. The incumbent reports to the Director of Quality and Informatics (DQI) or a designee of the DQI.

Duties

Serves as the primary point of contact for customer complaints or for issues pertaining to patient rights, grievances and advocacy. Identifies patients highest need for patient navigation services. Works with health care providers and administrative support staff to resolve problems and minimize patient complaints. Obtains, maintains, and protects the privacy of any patient care related documents required to serve the patient's needs. Produces cumulative reports which include categorization of patient inquiries to track/trend patters and identify-opportunities for improvement of care.

Qualifications

To qualify for this position, your resume must state sufficient experience and/or education, to perform the duties of the specific position for which you are applying. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer and part time experience. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: GS-09: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-07 grade level. Examples include: working directly with resolving customer complaints and grievances; works closely with the medical and nursing staff to coordinate discharge planning activities; facilitates needed services with appropriate clinics, transportation and burial service arrangements for patients; maintains complete, accurate and timely records of all patient contacts. OR A master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.B. or J.D., if related. OR A combination of education and experience that when combined meets the qualification requirements for the position. GS-11: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-09 grade level. Examples include: serves as a liaison and resource person between patients, their families, visitors; providing a channel through which patients can seek solutions to problems, concerns, and unfulfilled needs; coordinates efforts with hospital personnel, both professional and nonprofessional, in attempts to solve problems and identify potential problems areas; recommends modifications of hospital practices and policies that seem to cause repeated problems. OR A Ph. D. or equivalent doctoral degree, 3 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.M., if related OR A combination of education and experience that when combined meets the qualification requirements for the position. Time In Grade Federal employees in the competitive service are also subject to the Time-In-Grade Requirements: Merit Promotion (status) candidates must have completed one year of service at the next lower grade level. Time-In-Grade provisions do not apply under the Excepted Service Examining Plan (ESEP). You must meet all qualification requirements within 30 days of the closing date of the announcement.
