The primary purpose of this position is to serves as an Installation Geospatial Information Technician and provides current and historic infrastructure information to support planning, operations, and command of, and the design, construction, and deployment of Civil Engineering at and from, a United States Air Force installation. Duties
Continued from Summary: Provide installation and facilities engineering management and geospatial data throughout the lifecycle of changes that occur at an installation and for its facilities. Maintain civil engineering records for the installation. Serve as a Geospatial Information Technician using GIS/CADD tools, systems applications, and programs. Maintain and provide data necessary for architectural, engineering, and base management practices including facilities management, environmental management, site plan development, utilities design and maintenance, architectural floor plans, existing conditions mapping, future development plans, readiness, emergency response systems, inventory real property management, and other planning needs. Study methods and apply techniques and tools to solve GIS/CADD related technical problems. Update, coordinate, and implement GIS data such as maps, real estate, and engineering data.
Duties/Responsibilities:
Develops and maintains installation geospatial mapping information.
Develops and maintains facility floorplan information.
Manages engineering records.
Provides training, material resources, and information security support.

Qualifications
In order to qualify, you must meet the requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Group Coverage Qualification Standard for Technical and Medical Support Positions.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-08, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience includes Knowledge of geospatial concepts and their application to cartography, engineering, and land surveying; Knowledge in the applied use of - Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Computer-Aided Drafting and Design (CADD), Global Positioning Systems (GPS), or other technology capabilities relevant to mapping, drafting, and surveying disciplines; Knowledge of installation mapping and facilities record management guidance and standard operating procedures; Knowledge of industry digital spatial and geospatial data standards to include the Spatial Data Standard for Facilities, Infrastructure, and the Environment (SDSFIE), the A/E/C CADD Standard - especially AutoCAD drawing file implementations; Knowledge of functional work area disciplines to include: civil engineering, architectural drafting, and land surveying; Community planning, real property, and natural, cultural and pest management; Electrical/lighting, heating, venting, and air conditioning (HVAC), and cathodic protection; Liquid fuels, natural gas, water, sanitary sewer, industrial waste, and storm water systems; Pavements, roofing, etc.; Firefighting and emergency response, explosive ordinance disposal, and CBRNE readiness.

COMBINATION OF EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. NOTE: You must submit a copy of your transcripts.
FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-08 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-09 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks. NOTE: Applicants applying as VEOA candidates who are current GS civil service employees or are prior GS civil service employees within the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
1. Knowledge of basic geospatial concepts as they apply to cartography, engineering, and land surveying.
2. Knowledge of industry spatial data standards (e.g., National CAD, SDSFIE, NBIMS, etc.).
3. Knowledge of civil engineering work area disciplines.
4. Skills in terrestrial mapping, drafting, or surveying methods and techniques.
5. Skills in file management. Ability to communicate well verbally and in writing. Ability to train in on-the-job environments.
6. Skills in GIS, CADD, or surveying software and equipment.
PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
