This position is being recruited under 10 USC 1599f into the Cyber Excepted Service and does NOT convey eligibility to be converted to the Competitive Service. It has been identified as a position necessary to carry out and support the mission of the US Cyber Command.
It is in the Supervision/Management Work Category at the Senior Work Level within the CES Occupational Structure. It is located in the DISA Mainframe Operation System Branch.
Duties
Manages and directs accomplishment of highly critical mission and functions of the organization supported.
Studies appropriate journals, participates in computer users technical seminars, maintains contacts with vendor personnel, and takes other actions as appropriate to maintain up-to-date knowledge in the field.
Serves as a technical information source both within and outside the command.
Manages and directs resources in support of operating systems function.
Provides complex broad scoped administrative technical and professional services directly affecting this geographically dispersed and diverse customer based.
Exercises authority over planning, prioritizing and scheduling work to be performed by subordinates and evaluates work performance.
Requirements
- Must be a U.S. Citizen.
- Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered or exempt from Selective Service.
- This national security position, which may require access to classified information, requires a favorable suitability review and security clearance as a condition of employment. Failure to maintain security eligibility may result in termination.
- This position requires a Top Secret/Critical-Sensitive (CS) security clearance.
- This is a drug test position requiring pre-employment and random drug testing.
- This position is subject to Cyber Workforce requirements as defined by the DoD 8140 policy series for the position's required CYBER Work Role(s).
- Must be able to obtain and maintain access to classified information and eligibility to have the appropriate security clearance as a condition of employment. May be subject to initial and random drug testing for this position, if applicable.
Qualifications
In order to qualify for this position, you must meet the requirements described below.
Qualifying Experience:
To qualify at the GG-14, your resume must describe at least one year of experience that demonstrates the competencies necessary for immediate success in the position. Experience refers to any paid or unpaid experience, including volunteer work and Military service, that would be considered equivalent to work normally performed at the next lower grade level in the federal service.
For this position, qualifying experience is defined as: Directing the installation, configuration, testing, and management of an operating systems environment for information technology architecture and business needs; and providing cost savings methodologies and initiating process improvements to meet organizational or customer mission criteria.

Education
There is no substitution of education for the qualifying experience at the GG-14 grade level.
