Must be able to lift and carry items up to 75 pounds
A valid state driver's license is required
Duties
Assists with promoting, organizing, preparing, and administering sports programs, special activities, and tournaments. Helps design and implement yearly sports calendar.
Aids in developing sport rules and bylaws in conjunction with national organizations and base intramural standards. Implements and monitors diagnostic feedback tools such as customer surveys to assess program content and quality and changing trends. Coordinates with base organizations to ensure that sports representatives, members and coaches are continually informed of changes in the program.
Provides primary level customer service to all sport representatives, coaches, and players. Identifies equipment and contract personnel requirements and notifies fitness and sports manager of need.
Coordinates use of indoor and outdoor facilities to accommodate sports programs. Provides technical advice to supervisors on necessary repairs and deficiencies found during inspections of sports facilities and equipment. Prepares fields and playing surfaces for all sports and special events.
Monitors use of facility to ensure compliance with directives, policies, safety and health procedures. Performs contract administration and evaluation duties, including verification of invoices for WAWF payment, identification of deficiencies/discrepancies for all contracts, and communication with contracting and accounting personnel to correct invoice problems.
Provides oversight of facility usage and cleanliness. Cleans locker rooms and equipment as needed, returns weight equipment and accessories to proper racks and locations, and addresses policy violations when observed.
Organizes and maintains files, calendars and schedules, daily activity and headcount forms, advertising, bulletin boards, travel orders, and web page data. Performs a variety of duties in support of the day to day operations of the fitness center. Maintains order and enforces policy, procedures and safety rules for fitness center.
Types of duties include, but are not limited to: may open and ready facility for operating or close and secure facility at night. Prepares league schedules, promotes programs and maintains standings and changes. Maintains reservation system for sports courts and fields. Receives, stores, and issues towels and a variety of recreational supplies and equipment. Inventories, maintains simple inventory records, initiates actions to restock low supplies, and displays checkout items.

- This position requires the incumbent to complete a background investigation with favorable results.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if the position allows for qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application.
Qualifying Experience:
Minimum of one year of specialized experience in a fitness center. Must possess experience that has provided knowledge of a standardized body of rules, procedures and operations related to one or more indoor/outdoor recreation functions in order to perform the required activities in a fitness and sports environment.
Applicant must have general knowledge of a variety of intramural and varsity sports.
Experience with computer word processing and spreadsheet software required. Knowledge of general office admin and clerical procedures, and automation functions to support office operations.
Ability to communicate effectively with coaches, contractors, supervisors and patrons, both orally and in writing.
Requires daily physical exertion and requires an above average physical dexterity and ability in a variety of sports activities in order to demonstrate and teach participants. Duties are performed inside and outside with exposure to excessive heat, cold, dampness or chilling, and humidity.
Must be able to successfully pass the Fitness Fundamentals class at the first available opportunity.
Must have documented 75 hours of individual personal training and or group exercise leadership (CIAR or ACSM).
Education
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. This position does not allow for education substitution.
FOREIGN EDUCATION: Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet the requirements. You must show proof the education credentials have been deemed to be at least equivalent to that gained in conventional U.S. education program. It is your responsibility to provide such evidence when applying.
