The Supervisory Store Associate serves as the second line supervisor and manager of the Front-End Department of a Commissary store. The incumbent is fully responsible for all aspects of planning, scheduling, coordinating and controlling front end activities and personnel, and controlling all funds received and deposited daily as part of the front-end department operations.

Duties
This is a developmental position. Work assignments are progressively complex and intended to broaden the incumbent's skills and provide practical experience to prepare the incumbent to perform at the target grade level. At the target grade level, the Major Duties are:
1. Serves as the first line Supervisor for Store Associates.
Directs the following work in multiple areas of the commissary.
Front end operations including patron identification, customer inquiries, check out and cash control.
Non-perishable stock control including transporting item and stocking shelves.
Meat display and case stocking.
Produce inspection display and rotation.
Accounts maintenance, supply, and computer operations.
This position offers promotion potential to a higher grade. To prepare you for the higher grade, work assignments will be progressively more complex. After meeting all qualifications and requirements for the next grade level and with your supervisor's recommendation, you may be promoted without further competition. However, promotion is neither guaranteed nor automatic.

Requirements

Qualifications
You must meet the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) qualifications for series 1101 and additional requirements by the announcement closing date. Your resume (and/or transcript if necessary) must clearly show that you have the qualifications described below. You can use experience, education, or a combination of the two to qualify.
Experience: 1 year Specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS 5 grade level.
Specialized Experience required:
Plans, directs, or assigns work for employees.
Knowledgeable of multiple departments within a grocery store to evaluate work, provide instruction and conduct on the job training for workers.
Carry out daily retail grocery store functions necessary to successfully execute store operations.
Physical requirements: (1) Frequently lift, push, pull, carry, and handle commissary products weighing up to 40 pounds without assistance. Heavier products are moved with assistance from other workers or by using weight-handling equipment (for example: manual or electric pallet jacks). (2) Long periods of standing, walking, bending, reaching, and similar activities when taking inventory, retrieving items from the warehouse, and stocking shelves. You will attest to your ability to perform these physical requirements in the Questionnaire.
