Duties

As an IT Specialist (Security), you are responsible in managing everyday activities, such as business impact analyses and application management. This position starts at a salary of $117,962.00 (GS-13, Step 1) to $153,354.00 (GS-13, Step 10) with promotion potential to $153,354 (GS-13 Step 10). In this position, you will become a key member of the Business Continuity and Planning Team performing the below typical work assignments: Implementing Incident Command & Control for emergency operations, supports mission critical interoperable and secure communications capabilities during Federal Emergencies, National Level exercises and other similar types of events. Translating up-to-date information into continuous improvement activities that enhance performance. Identifying policy needs and develops documents to govern division or organization level IT activities. Maintaining and managing various Business Continuity plans; assesses policy needs and develops documents to govern division or organization level IT activities; provides policy guidance to management, staff, and customers. Basic Requirement: Individuals must have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed below. Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail. Customer Service - Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services. Oral Communication - Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately. Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendation You qualify for this position if you meet the basic requirement listed above and possess one year of specialized experience as described below. Experience: You qualify for the GS-13 grade level if you possess 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level, performing duties such as: Employing project management and incident management principles and methods. Developing, documenting, maintaining and implementing Continuity of Operations Procedures (COOP) and Occupancy Emergency Plans (OEPs). Designing and testing Disaster Recover (DR) procedures for Mission and Non-Mission Essential Systems and mission essential functions. Performing risk and vulnerability assessments to identify vulnerabilities, risks, and protection needs. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. You must: Meet all qualification requirements, including education if applicable to this position, subject to verification at any stage of the application process; and Meet all applicable Time in Grade requirements (current federal employees must have served 52 weeks at the next lower grade or equivalent grade band in the federal service) by 10/11/2024. The Office of Personnel Management (OPM) must authorize employment offers made to current or former political appointees. Current and former federal employees may be required to serve or complete a probationary period. Agency Career Transition Assistance Program (CTAP) Eligibles: If you have never worked for the federal government, you are not CTAP eligible.
