As an IT Specialist, you will serve as the primary IT field contact for all employees and volunteers within the North Dakota Group Parks: Theodore Roosevelt National Park, Knife River Indian Villages National Historic Site, and Fort Union Trading Post National Historic Site.
Duties
Install, configure and troubleshoot notebooks, thin client devices, and associated software and peripherals for end users
Administer Active Directory Group policies and create, maintain, and administer user accounts and permissions
Configure and troubleshoot Motorola radio systems and Cisco IP phones and related telecommunications devices
Configure, administer, and troubleshoot Microsoft Windows servers
Ensure IT security policies and procedures are implemented across the unit
Develop IT project plans, documents, timelines, budgets, and resource requests
Troubleshoot network connectivity of devices
Backup and recover data in the event of a system failure
Requirements
- You must be a U.S. citizen or national.

- You must be able to obtain and maintain a valid state driver's license.
- The selectee will need to be able to lift IT infrastructure up to 45 lbs into racks and onto desks.
Qualifications
In order to be qualified for this position, you must possess:
A. One year of specialized experience at least equivalent to the GS-09 level in the Federal service determining hardware, software, and telecommunications equipment necessary to accomplish unit objectives; managing the installation of computer and network system operating software for a unit; and resolving problems for a wide variety of IT applications, operating systems, and equipment. In addition, possess IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies: 1) Attention to Detail - Ensures work aligns with organizational policies and procedures; 2) Customer Service - Works with clients or customers to assess their needs and recommend products or services; 3) Oral Communication - Delivers presentations or orally provides guidance to individuals with varying levels of technical IT knowledge using language and a style appropriate for the individual; 4) Problem Solving - Recommends updates to policies, procedures, or system settings to resolve problems encountered by system users - OR -
B. A Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or three full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree in computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management; or possess such a degree that included a minimum of 24 semester hours in one or more of the fields identified above that required the development or adaptation of applications, systems or networks.
For current Federal employees, if hours worked per week are not included on your resume, you must submit a non-award SF-50 as part of your application to be used to validate your work schedule and determine the amount of specialized experience that you will be granted. An award SF-50 will not be acceptable documentation for which to consider your amount of qualifying experience. For periods of time that reflect military service, the DD-214 or Statement of Service is sufficient to meet the full and/or part-time hours requirement as the service dates will be reflected.
