About the Position: This position is a DOD Cyber Excepted Service (CES) personnel system position in the Excepted Service under 10 USC 1599f. Employees occupying CES positions are in the Excepted Service and must adhere to U.S. Code, Title 10, as well as Department of Defense Instruction 1400.25.
This position is with the 7th Signal Command, 106th Signal Brigade located in Fort Bliss, Texas.
Duties
Supervises, plans, organizes, directs, and accomplishes studies, analysis, and evaluations of plans, programs, projects, networks, policies, and procedures to develop the basis for institutionalizing communications networks and computer systems.
Maintains secure communications environment by working with Information Assurance Division to identify and correct security deficiencies.
Incumbent is experienced and knowledge of loading, configuring, maintaining networking operating systems (Cisco IOS or similar).
Incumbent oversees implementation of new system hardware and software and develops operating procedures; monitors the ongoing operation of a complex network environment with a large number of users in an installation
or command and ensures corrective action to restore operational service is accomplished.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.

- Position is designated as Information Assurance Technical (IAT) Level-II. This is an Information Assurance Workforce Improvement Program position. Incumbent (or Selectee) is required to satisfactorily complete the appropriate training and obtain
- the certification/recertification for this position. This position requires at a minimum the Cisco Certified Network Professional Collaboration (CCNP) certification.
- Nondisclosure Agreement: This position requires access to classified information. Incumbent of the position will be required to complete a Standard Form (SF) 312, Classified Information Non disclosure Agreement (NDA). Nondisclosure Agreement (NDA).
- Position Sensitivity: This is a Non-Critical Sensitive (3) position under the provision of DOD Directive 5200.2R and AR 380-67. The incumbent is required to obtain and maintain a SECRET clearance with Special Compartmented Information access.
- Incumbent must complete a supervisory probationary period, including any mandatory supervisory or refresher training, unless previously completed.
- This position requires the employee to occasionally travel 25% (in the most expedient manner) away from the normal duty station.
- Incumbent may be required to work overtime, and other than normal duty hours which may include evenings, weekends, and/or holidays.
- This position is designated as an adverse weather position. The incumbent may be required to remain on duty or report for duty during severe weather or other installation closings.
- Call back and emergency duty are regular requirements of this position.
- Employee is required to satisfactorily complete the appropriate training and obtain the required certification/recertification for this position.

To qualify based on your experience, your resume must describe one-year specialized experience that demonstrates the possession of knowledge, skills, abilities, and competencies necessary for immediate success in the position. Such experience is typically in or directly related to the work of the position to be filled.
Specialized experience would be demonstrated by: Evaluating and advising on information transmission systems that support IT networks; Guiding the development of various short-, mid-, and long-range operational plans; Developing IT cost model pricing and presenting data to senior officials; Overseeing new system hardware and software installation and maintaining network system security; Test/install/configure/maintain Voice systems (VoIP/VoSIP).
You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas:
