This position is located in Yosemite National Park, in the Facilities Management Division.
This is a Career/Career-Conditional Full-time appointment.
Travel, transportation, and relocation expenses will be paid if the selectee lives outside of the local commuting area and is otherwise eligible for reimbursement of relocation expenses in accordance with the Federal Travel Regulation.
Duties
Operates hydraulic front loading refuse compactor collection truck (up to 60,000 lbs. G.V.W.) for refuse collection, removal and disposal.
Operates a refuse compactor trailer and truck/tractor (80,000lbs, G.V.J.) combination to transfer compacted refuse.
Operates semi-truck to haul heavy equipment on trailers connected by fifth wheel or pintle hook.
Operates gasoline or diesel powered engineering and construction equipment with wheeled or crawler type traction, including some vehicles equipped with auxiliary attachments.
Operate up to 14 cubic yard straight dump truck or truck tractor with belly or side dump trailers.
Operate equipment to push, pull, pile, excavate, back fill, grade, or level earth and refuse.
Use equipment to perform such functions as cutting, moving, digging, grading, and rolling earth, sand, stone, and other materials and maintain ditches, road shoulders, and beds.
Operates vehicles on steep grades and winding narrow roads, in all weather conditions including snow and ice.
Apply knowledge of road and weather conditions to ensure safety is practiced at all times.
Apply knowledge of the nature of the soil and features of the terrain to determine the proper approach to complete the work.

Qualifications
Ability to do the work of an Engineering Equipment Operator WG- 9 without more than normal supervision (Screen out). This includes work experience performing the following duties: experience operating multiple types of heavy engineering equipment inclusive of but not limited to: hydraulic front loading trash trucks, refuse compactor trailer and truck/tractor combination, gasoline or diesel-powered heavy equipment, five cubic-yard dump trucks, and road graders. Operate this equipment to collect and dispose of refuse, move and load material such as dirt, snow, and other material. Operate vehicles with auxiliary attachments (e.g., snow plow blade, rotary snow blower, mower, sweeper, sanding units) to perform duties. Operate trucks and equipment with multiple operating functions like front loader/compactor trash trucks and snow removal equipment. Operate various types of equipment and trucks on congested roadways, in inclement weather and on steep and narrow roadways. Often work independently with little to no supervision.You must possess and maintain a current Class A Commercial Driver's License by the closing date of this announcement.
