The primary purpose of this position is: Serve as the 305 Operations Group (OG) Deputy to the Commander in Air Mobility Command's second largest OG with more than 850 funded authorizations.
Duties
As full deputy to the commander, directs, plans, organizes, and manages the day-to-day mission execution of the 305 AMW's Operations Group, the second largest Operations Group in Air Mobility Command.
Exercises supervisory personnel management responsibilities.
Represents the 305 Wing Commander and 305 Operations Group Commander and in strategic planning with a variety of installation and functional area organizations.
Integrates Multi-Airfield Management Programs on JB MDL across critical aviation support areas at DoD's only tri-service Joint Base in accordance with Air Force directives and the provisions of OSD's Joint Base guidance.
As 305 Operations Group senior civilian and JB operational subject matter expert, acts as sole process owner and source of continuity for all aviation-related installation support activities for DoD's only tri-service Joint Base initiative as directed by 2005 BRAC law.
Leads and/or participates in special projects and initiatives and performs special assignments to include making periodic, comprehensive assessments and evaluation of program goals/objectives which provide a basis for long-range planning to enhance the organization's management support capabilities.

- Requires frequent presence on an operational Air Force flight line. Incumbent must be able to capable of meeting requirements for unescorted flight line access and certification to operate a motor vehicle on the flight line
- This position has been designated by the Air Force as a Testing Designated Position (TDP) under the Air Force Civilian Drug Demand Reduction Program. Employee must pass initial and periodic short notice drug testing
- "This is a Supervisory Position." A 1-year supervisory probationary period is required if applicant selected has not previously met this requirement.

Position is designated as a KEY position IA W AFI 36-507. Duties of this position are essential to the accomplishment of wartime/contingency operations. Incumbents of key positions must be removed from their military recall status if alternatives for filling of the position during an emergency are not available.
In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Administrative and Management Positions- Miscellaneous Administration & Program (0301).
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13(or higher) grade level or equivalent pay systems (may have been obtained in the federal service, military, or public sector). Which includes Knowledge of flying operations, command center communications, intelligence procedures, aeromedical evacuation, and current operations which includes worldwide deployment of aircraft in the planning and execution of military operations. Knowledge of and skill in the application of rated aviator expertise, as either a pilot or navigator. Knowledge of safety and security regulations, and risk management practices and procedures. Knowledge of LEAN process initiatives and their application.
FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-13 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-14 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks. NOTE: Applicants applying as VEOA candidates who are current GS civil service employees or are prior GS civil service employees within the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
Knowledge of flying operations, command center communications, intelligence procedures, aeromedical evacuation, and current operations which includes worldwide deployment of aircraft in the planning and execution of military operations
Knowledge of and skill in the application of rated aviator expertise, as either a pilot or navigator.
Knowledge of safety and security regulations, and risk management practices and procedures.
Knowledge of LEAN process initiatives and their application.
Ability to analyze, plan, coordinate, and adjust work operations of multiple organizational segments to meet program requirements and objectives within available resources and direct flight operations functions and mentor, motivate, and appraise the staff of an organization through subordinate supervisors.
Ability to communicate both orally and in writing.
PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
