About the position: This position will be assigned to the Arts & Crafts Facility on McConnell AFB .
Duties
Assists the director in managing the day to day operations of Arts & Crafts (A &C). Prepares A & C's annual program plans, class schedules and provides support to instructors and students. Assumes the duties of the director in his or her absence. May be required to temporarily perform the duties of Auto or Wood shop managers in their absence. Prepares and coordinates arts/crafts publicity and promotional measures to encourage maximum participation. Schedules and organizes arts and crafts competitions, shows and exhibitions. Enrolls patrons in instructional arts and crafts programs. Sets up exhibits and displays and conducts contests in a variety of crafts. Monitors patrons utilizing the Arts & Crafts Center, and directs staff to orientate patrons concerning rules, practices and safety factors. Serves as training coordinator for training employees in techniques and practices of the center to insure that procedures are met IA W applicable guidelines, i.e., cash handling, customer service, and safety. Assists the director in preparation and submission of operating budget requirements for arts/crafts NAF and APF budgets when program needs are expected to change. Performs administrative duties, such as compiling reports, letters, endorsements and various other related materials pertaining to the operation and administration of the arts/crafts program. Completes arts/craft recurring and special reports, obtaining required data and information from appropriate sources. Maintains arts/crafts administrative, reference and technical files in accordance with prescribed functional filing system. Serves as Arts & Crafts Center timekeeper, and prepares and submits time reports. Performs on-going customer relations and interaction. Informs participants and employees of rules and policies and answers questions regarding programs, facilities and hours of operation. The employee is responsible for the completion of all custom orders in the framing/sales store areas. Assists in ensuring the staff practices positive customer service, courtesy and tact. Assists in the implementation of instructions and other procedural guidelines to create good working habits to maximize the use of potential skills and abilities. Responsible for providing orientation training of employees to provide them with the principals of good customer service. Assists in planning, organizing and implementing arts/crafts programs. Provides input necessary to plan and initiate improvement in overall facility. Provides input to the Marketing Office to prepare arts/crafts publicity announcements to promote the program. Enforces local, base and Air Force policies. Coordinates arts/crafts resale activities. Performs arts/crafts inventories and purchases resale, stock, materials and other resources. Prepares arts/crafts purchase requests and maintains receiving reports and other records. Provides arts and crafts programming geared to the needs of all authorized patrons. Performs other related duties as assigned/directed.

Qualifying Experience:
A degree in general Art and management studies preferred; however, demonstrated supervisory experience and knowledge of principles, concepts, methods and techniques in fine or visual arts and crafts may substitute. Must have organizational skills, and be able to plan and develop leisure time activities and instructional classes for a diverse community. Ability to apply procedures, requirements, regulations and policies related to specialized expertise in a skills development or related operation. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. The ability to multi--task is a plus. Able to develop operational budgets and meeting financial goals. A demonstrated knowledge of personnel management and training a must. Knowledge of safety and environmental work practices. Must be able to stand, walk, bend, and lift 20 lbs. without assistance, and work in various weather conditions. May use various chemicals, tools, paints, etc. Must satisfactorily complete an investigation. The incumbent is subject to random testing for drugs. Must satisfactorily complete a T1 investigation

Education

FOREIGN EDUCATION: Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet the requirements. You must show proof the education credentials have been deemed to be at least equivalent to that gained in conventional U.S. education program.
