This position is a Facility Services Assistant, GS- 1603-6/7 working in Ventura, California for the R8-Ventura Fish and Wildlife Office.
Duties
The Ventura Fish and Wildlife Office works to conserve and protect threatened and endangered fish, wildlife, and plants of the southern and central California, collaborating with communities and conservation partners to build a future that supports both people and our unique and diverse natural resources.
As a Facility Services Assistant your duties will include but are not limited to the following:
Serve as a liaison between the landlord's facility manager, GSA lease manager and the station for all needed repairs & maintenance issues.
Perform visual inspections of lighting, janitorial issues, fire extinguishers maintenance, etc. that are landlords responsibility to perform/maintain per the GSA lease and reports deficiencies to landlord's site manager and GSA as needed.
Possess EPA Number required to dispose of hazardous waste, prepares all required reports, arranges for disposal following all regulations, prepares acquisition request (AR) for disposal & makes payment after AR is signed and disposal completed.
Responsible for the inspection, distribution, and tracking of all incoming orders for material and equipment; ensuring that items are processed and accounted for in accordance with appropriate procedures & regulations prior to distributing to appropriate end users.
Assist Field Supervisor and the Regional Property Receiving Officer in completing the annual property inventory.
Maintain all maintenance/repair records for stations vehicle fleet, currently 11 vehicles used primarily to transport equipment and crew to field study sites.
Coordinate with GSA to exchange GSA leased vehicles of the station on schedule and ensures vehicles received meet station requirements.

Only experience and education obtained by 10/18/2024 will be considered.
In order to qualify for this position you must possess Minimum Qualification.
Minimum Qualification [GS-6]:
Must at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the (GS-05) grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Completing forms and correspondence to support a variety of requests (e.g., repair requests, facility use requests); 2) Maintaining records on facility equipment, fleet vehicles and supplies; and 3) Assisting with submitting repair requests into an automated tracking system.
Minimum Qualification [GS-7]:
Must possess at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the (GS-06) grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Monitoring facility operations, maintenance, and fleet vehicles according to established procedures; 2) Maintaining records to prepare reports or provide requested information; and 3) Entering maintenance and repair requests for facilities into an automated tracking system.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
Time In Grade Requirement: Applicants must meet both eligibility and qualification requirements for the position of interest by the closing date of the JOA. Specifically,
i. Area of Consideration.
ii. Time-in-grade (TIG) requirements as specified in 5 CFR 300, Subpart F.
iii. Time after competitive appointment as specified in 5 CFR 330.502.
