You will serve as a FAMILY ADVOCACY PROGRAM ADVOCATE in the BEHAVIORAL HEALTH PROGRAMS of MARINE CORPS BASE.
Duties
You will screen victims of intimate partner abuse, non-offending parents of child abuse/neglect, and parents of children impacted by or exhibiting problematic sexual behavior to evaluate their needs and provide resources.
You will coordinate with clinicians and case managers in developing appropriate plans of assistance/intervention which provides for the safety of the victim and family members.
You will assist investigative agencies in coordinating interviews of victims and attend investigative interviews to provide support and advocacy for the victim.
You will ensure confidential handling of documents/conversations relative to victim care and provide regular follow-up services to all identified victims, including those who have declined services.
You will provide briefings and prevention/education seminars on issues related to family conflict/domestic abuse, and sexual assault.
You will assist in conducting support groups for victims and provide crisis intervention, assistance in securing medical treatment, information on legal rights and resources, and pre-trial, trial, and post-trial support.
Requirements

- This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required.
- You may be required to be on-call on a rotational basis. During on-call, Advocates work their regular shift but also cover a 24/7 crisis phone during nights and weekends.
- You will be required to possess and maintain a current valid United States driver’s license.
- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
- You will be required to complete training, obtain, and maintain a government credit card for travel and travel-related purchases.
Qualifications
In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Interpreting laws/regulations/guidelines pertaining to criminal domestic violence; communicating effectively with diverse individuals during crisis situations; and analyzing factors to provide resources and make referrals for individuals impacted by substance abuse and/or domestic violence.

Education
Applicants must meet the following basic requirements of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualifications Standards Manual:
1) Degree in behavioral or social science; or related disciplines appropriate to the position OR
2) Combination of education and experience that provided the applicant with knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field OR
3) Four years of appropriate experiencethat demonstrated that the applicant has acquired knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field
In lieu of the specialized experience listed in the Qualifications section, you may qualify for the position based on education OR equivalent combination of experience and education as follows:
- I have successfully completed a master's or equivalent graduate degree OR
- I have successfully completed two full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a master's degree OR
- I have a combination of experience and education as described above that equates to one year of experience. My percentage of the required education plus my percentage of the required experience equal one hundred percent
