This position is located in the San Francisco Veterans Affairs Health Care System (SFVAHCS) in Environmental Management Service. The Primary duties of this position involve supervision of all aspects of laundry, Linen and uniform distribution.

Duties

Directs the accomplishment of assigned work operations and evaluates completed work to assure that standards of quality assurance are met. Develops work assignments, instructions, and coordination of laundry/linen delivery. Schedules, approves, and/or disapproves all leave request for subordinates. Realigns daily work schedules to accommodate program priorities and responsibilities. Counsels employees orally and written and takes first-level disciplinary action against employees when deemed necessary. Develops linen quotas for each area and conducts annual linen inventory, and assists with input and planning for budget requirements of items that will be required throughout the fiscal year. Performs written Environmental Sanitation inspections of all areas of linen storage areas, soiled linen areas, uniforms storage areas, and linen/laundry building. Must be able to teach classes, make work schedules, maintain daily records, and write reports. Be able to act on personnel problems, be observant of discrepancies in cleaning procedures, linen delivery, soiled linen pick up, seamstress work, and take action to immediately resolve discrepancies. Perform the duties of a laundry/ linen delivery employees in areas of responsibility when necessary to maintain service continuity of assigned areas. Other duties as assigned. EXPERIENCE: A specific length of training and experience is not required, but you must show evidence of training or experience of sufficient scope and quality of your ability to do the work of this position. Evidence which demonstrates you possess the knowledge, skills, and ability to perform the duties of this position must be supported by detailed descriptions of such on your resume. Applicants will be rated in accordance with the OPM Federal Wage System Qualification Standards. SCREEN-OUT ELEMENT: Your qualifications will first be evaluated against the prescribed screen out element, which usually appears as question 1 in the on-line questionnaire. Those applicants who appear to possess at least the minimal acceptable qualification requirement are considered for further rating; those who do not are rated ineligible and are eliminated. Physical Requirements/Working Conditions: The incumbent must be able to meet the physical demands of walking, standing, siting, bending, pushing, pulling, twisting, lifting, and carrying light items. Must be able to meet and deal with the public. Stress is a factor due to Environmental Care Management operations' constant turnover of employees, complexity, work environment, deadlines, numerous projects, and changing technological advances in the health care environmental management field.
