About the Position: This position is located at Naval Branch Health Clinic Port Hueneme, Port Hueneme, CA. *This position has a typing requirement of 40wpm.

Duties

Facilitates patient check-in, verification of Defense Enrollment Eligibility Reporting System (DEERS). Coordinates with the Office Manager and leadership in addressing inappropriate, misdirected or problematic consults. Provide general and specific information to patients and their families to include new patient registration, patient familiarization with this facility, including parking, pharmacy, radiology and laboratory sites. Serves as the initial point of contact for arriving patients and customers Responsible for the preparation of a daily record of appointments for each medical provider displaying available, unavailable, and booked patient appointment times.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Immunization screening is required. Hepatitis B immunization is required for all positions with direct patient contact. Applicants may be required to show proof of other immunizations depending on the type of position.
  • This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.
  • A Personnel Security Investigation is required.
  • Selectees will be required to sign a statement (Condition of Employment) consenting to seasonal influenza vaccinations or must provide a recognized exemption.

General experience is progressively responsible clerical, office, or other work that indicates ability to acquire the particular knowledge and skills needed to perform the duties of the position to be filled, such as, scheduling patient appointments, directing patients and customers, and using basic office equipment (fax machine, copier, printer, etc.) OR Education: Two years of education above the high school level obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of by 60. Add the two percentages. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: ClericalCustomer Service (Clerical/Technical)Teamwork Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-03).
