You will serve as an Aircraft Mechanic Leader in the F/A-18 MRO Production Department of Fleet Readiness Center West located at Naval Air Station Lemoore, CA

Duties

You will perform visual, dimensional, and operational inspections at designated stages of aircraft repairs done by others on hydraulic, mechanical, and related structural and electrical systems. You will inspect, overhaul, and repair aircraft systems that contain interrelated components and parts. You will investigate, analyze, troubleshoot, and resolve complex aircraft system/equipment issues. You will train junior artisans on proper aircraft mechanic trade techniques and work methods. You will pass on instructions from a supervisor to other workers and set the pace for the project. You will be assigned collateral duties supporting and maintaining shop functions. You will be required to have regular and predictable attendance, which is an essential function of this position.

  • You must take and pass a pre-employment physical examination.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain required certification and/or license as a condition of employment.
  • You may be required to work all shifts on a rotational basis including overtime.
  • You may be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
  • This position requires lifting and carrying objects up to 50 pounds.

I have the ability to lead/supervise others who perform the full range of I have the ability to lead/supervise others who perform the full range of Aircraft Mechanic tasks including: 1) Performing maintenance and repair on fixed and or rotary wing aircraft systems, airframes, components and assemblies. 2) Ability to perform functional and operational test on a variety of major aircraft systems, their assemblies and components. 3) Can troubleshoot aircraft systems sufficient to determine if functioning properly or requires adjustments. 4) Knowledge and skill in the use of standard and specialized tools and test equipment. 5) Can read and interpret blueprints and schematic diagrams. 6) Experience as a work leader or supervisor sufficient to set the pace of production efforts, answer questions, and demonstrate proper work methods. I work on my own initiative under general supervision subject to occasional inspection.
