You will serve as an ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN in the ENGINEERING & PLANNING DEPT, CHIEF ENGINEER, TECHNICAL SUPPORT DIVISION, TRAINING (Code 220.4) of PEARL HARBOR NSY AND IMF.
Duties
You will prepare and conduct formal and information training including the principles, concepts, terminology, non-nuclear engineering standards/procedures as well as the design and operation of all non-nuclear submarine systems and components.
You will research local and NAVSEA instructions to source appropriate work/training requirements.
You will schedule and coordinate classroom sessions designed to provide, update, improve and upgrade the knowledge and skill of Shipyard personnel in the technical mechanical, electrical and structural engineering fields.
You will prepare and revise lesson plans, visual aids and handouts, and obtain necessary related materials in order to accomplish the objectives of the assigned training plan.
You will develop and administer written and practical examinations commensurate with the training objectives, scoring and evaluating results to verify satisfactory demonstration of individual knowledge and abilities against the training objectives.
You will prepare and maintain training records, progress reports, qualifications and other documents as required to certify engineer qualifications for audit and historical purposes.

- You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
- You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
- Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
- This is a Mission Essential position. You will be required to ensure organization or facility continuity of operations and/or completion of tasks that are considered essential to the mission designated by a local or command decision.
Qualifications
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector providing training and program management skills on technical engineering techniques to prepare innovative design modifications and specifications for ship or submarine overhaul or repair projects.
