The primary purpose of this position is to support development and acquisition of war-winning weapons, providing top quality installation support to all units, and responsible steward of our resources while designing, fabricating, installing, functional checks.

Duties

Maintain specialized instrumentation systems to measure and record test parameters in a variety of environmental, field or laboratory conditions and organize and direct the support effort for test program instrumentation preflight and post-flight requirements. Evaluates installed instrumentation equipment capability against test objectives and environmental conditions to determine if equipment meets required specifications for scheduled test missions. Organizes and directs the support effort for test program instrumenta1ion preflight and post-flight requirements. Acts as preflight point of contact for mission support issues and T-2 modification upgrades to all assigned aircraft. Accomplishes calibration, checkout, during performance validation of instrumentation systems equipment during T-2 modification installation/check-out applying personal expertise and knowledge of systems of assigned aircraft and under direction of responsible aircraft systems engineer. Accomplishes technical research and planning to accomplish electrical fabrication and installation of wiring that will be required for aerospace test vehicle modification. Follows all safety, security, and fire regulations, ensures classified materials are controlled at all times.

Qualifications

Experience requirements are described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Electronics Technician. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least 1 year (52 weeks) of specialized experience at the next lower broadband NJ-02, equivalent to the next lower grade GS-08 or equivalent in other pay systems. Specialized experience includes: Provide mission support along with electrical wiring fabrication, modification, and support efforts for test program instrumentation requirements while training flight personnel on proper handling and control of kit tools according to regulation and inspecting mid inventories flight CTK maxi and mini kits for compliance with established procedures and identifies any required corrective actions. NOTE: Due to the use of 120-day rosters, this period of experience may be completed within 120 days of the closing date of this announcement. Demonstrates skilled critical thinking in identifying, analyzing and solving complex airborne instrumentation issues. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: Ability to design, fabricate, install and maintain specialized instrumentation systems which measure and record test parameters in a variety of environmental, field, or laboratory conditions. A thorough knowledge of electronic principles and practices, operating parameters, capabilities, and limitations of electronic systems and components associated with airborne and ground instrumentation systems. Knowledge of basic electronic concepts and ability to convert theoretical ideas to functional components and systems. Skill in the interpretation of technical data such as drawings, schematics, blueprints, and specifications of complete electronic systems. Ability to use electronic test equipment. Ability to perform calibration and troubleshooting for installed instrumentation systems, including video recording, digital data recording, weapon function monitoring, and other data collection systems. Ability to provide technical leadership to other technicians and support personnel. PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
