About the Position: Work consists of reviewing and analyzing various documents and actions, making recommendations or providing options based on the review. The incumbent of this position serves as a member of a team composed to advise and manage civilian personnel programs and policies in the areas of position management and classification, recruitment and placement, awards and evaluations and workers' compensation under the Federal Employees Compensation Act.

Duties

The incumbent will serve a Human Resources Assistant providing administrative and technical support in civilian awards, routine personnel actions, drug testing, Task Management Systems and in and out processing. Serve as a primary point of contact and representative for the Military Treatment Facility civilian awards program. Maintain status of Request for Personnel Actions (RPAs) and provide information to Chief, Civilian Human Resources, supervisors, and teammates as needed. Provide administrative management of the Defense Management and Appraisal Program (DPMAP). Track appropriate suspense and distributes announcements, guidance, and reminders to Military Treatment Facility (MTF) staff. Conduct individual and group in processing for new Military Treatment Facility civilian employees. Utilize computer application packages (e.g., ACCESS, EXCEL) to develop and/or maintain data bases and spreadsheets to track information about employees and staff.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment.
  • Appointment to this position is subject to a one-year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.
  • This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 10% of the time.
  • Employees assigned to a medical treatment facility are required to be screened for applicable immunizations.
  • This position has a mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirement and is subject to annual vaccination.
  • The duties of this position require the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License in one of the 50 U.S. states or possessions to operate vehicles.

OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) by 18. Add the two percentages. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: ClericalComputer LiteracyManages and Organizes InformationOral CommunicationWritten Communication Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-06).
