This National Guard position is for an AIR TRAFFIC CONTROL SPECIALIST (TITLE 5), Position Description Number T6011000 and is part of the FL HQ 101 AOG, National Guard.
Duties
As an AIR TRAFFIC CONTROL SPECIALIST (TITLE 5), GS-2152-13, you will perform operational/deployed/exercise responsibilities for the Combined/Joint Airspace Control Center of the Air Operations Center (AOC). Responsible for ensuring airspace needed to accommodate the protection of the President and Vice President of the United States is obtained with minimal interference to U.S. Air Carrier and General Aviation operations throughout the United States, Puerto Rico, and the Virgin Islands to include any International Civil Aviation Organizations (ICAO). This entails coordination with twenty Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Air Route Traffic Control Centers (ARTCC) throughout the U.S. plus the Consolidated Enroute Radar Approach Control in San Juan Puerto Rico. Designs, constructs, and deconflicts a comprehensive air traffic control structure in coordination with local authorities, both national and international, utilizing separation and control of air traffic/airspace function, to ensure seamless integration of military air operations into the National Airspace. Coordinate closely with U.S. Secret Service, FBI, and other Federal Agencies on airspace required to defend National Sensitive Security Events (NSSE) such as the Republican and Democratic National Convention's, Super bowl, or Space Shuttle Launches, etc. Recommend courses of action as the Combined/Joint Force Air Component commanders (C/JFACC) executive agent for airspace control of air and ground forces in any theater of operations. Ensure that proper airspace control measures maximize the effectiveness of combat operations while ensuring the safe, orderly, and expeditious use of airspace in order to prevent fratricide among friendly US, joint, and coalition forces.
Requirements
- Incumbent must be able to obtain and maintain a Top-Secret Tier 5 level security clearance for this position.

Qualifications
AREA OF CONSIDERATION: This position is in the Excepted Service "under the authority of Title 5, P.L. 114-328, Sections 932 and 1084 (FY17 NDAA)", and is open to current US Federal employees interested in helping the Department of the Air Force meet our mission requirements as an Air Traffic Control Specialist.
PCS: Permanent Change of Station (PCS) costs, Recruitment or Relocation Incentive MAY be authorized. Authorization for payment of PCS expenses, Recruitment or Relocation Incentive will be granted ONLY after determination is made that payment is in the best interest of the Florida National Guard.

NOTE: Air Traffic Control Specialists in all specializations must possess or obtain, within uniformly applicable time limits, the facility ratings required for full performance at the facility where the position is located.
NOTE: Applicants must possess a valid Air Traffic Control Specialist Certificate and/or Control Tower Operator Certificate.
NOTE: Qualified Applicants will be required to appear for a pre-employment in person interview.
1. Must obtain and maintain a security clearance (TS-SCI) required by the position.
2. Position requires temporary work away from normal duty station (TOY IT AD).
3. May be required to travel by commercial or military aircraft.
4. May be required to work overtime.
5. May be required to work an uncommon tour of duty (i.e. evenings, weekends, holidays).
6. This is a testing designated position. The employee is subject to random drug testing.
MAXIMUM ENTRY AGE: Under the provisions of 5 U.S.C. 3307, a maximum entry age (35) has been established for Terminal and Center positions.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: GS-13 must have a least 12 months experience at the GS12 level in a military or civilian air traffic facility that demonstrated possession of the knowledge, skills, and abilities required to perform the full management level of work of the specialization for which application is made. This experience must have provided a comprehensive knowledge of providing information to pilots on such matters as weather, air routes, navigational aids, and airport conditions before and during flight; issuing control instructions and advice to pilots in the vicinity of airports to assure proper separation of aircraft and to expedite their safe and efficient movement; controlling aircraft operating enroute along the airways to assure proper separation and safe and expeditious movement of such aircraft
