Duties

You will perform structural firefighting duties for a variety of facilities. You will perform airfield firefighting by involving air traffic or support operations with hazardous conditions. You will operate a variety of firefighting equipment. You will combat fire or rescue personnel on board ships where conditions create very difficult and dangerous situations.

Requirements

  • This is a bargaining unit position.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver’s license.
  • You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
  • You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift
  • Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
  • Position requires the ability to discern colors, contrast, and depth.
  • This is a Mission Essential position. You will be required to ensure organization or facility continuity of operations and/or completion of tasks that are considered essential to the mission designated by a local or command decision.

Qualifications

GS-07: Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-06 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:1) Performing rescue operations; 2) Detecting, reducing, or eliminating potential fire hazards; 3) Performs standby duty during aircraft engine testing, welding, and ammunition handling. 4) Performing non-invasive emergency medical procedures; and 5) Efficiently locate fire control room and activate/deactivate the system aboard ships. NOTE: THIS INFORMATION MUST BE SUPPORTED IN YOUR RESUME TO BE CONSIDERED FOR THE POSITION. ***This position requires the incumbent to possess the following certifications: Firefighter I and II, Airport Firefighter, HAZMAT Technician, Driver Operator-Pumper, Driver Operator ARFF.. These certifications must have been awarded by DoD, IFSAC or ProBoard to meet the requirement. Additional you must possess Nationally Registered EMT-Basic. If you do not possess all of the above certifications you will be rated ineligible. Copies of Certifications MUST be submitted with your application. Driver Operator Aerial must complete withing one year.***. Must also be registered EMT with NREMT.
