About the Position: Serves as a Human Resources Assistant for the ID Card Section. Works independently under the general supervision of the Chief, Personnel Processing Branch (PPB), Military Personnel Division (MPD), and Director, Human Resources (DHR).

Duties

Review and update military personnel records in HR systems such as IPPS-A, iPERMS, TRANSPROC, and DEERS/RAPIDS etc Advise Service Members, Retirees, Dependents, Civilian and Contract employees of required documents to process DEERS/ID Card related actions Perform a variety of administrative support functions to support management requirements. Explain military personnel policies, standards, and guidelines to assist customers with questions. Research error conditions to correct personnel database discrepancies with the potential to impact employee pay, benefits, or entitlements.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.
  • This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 5% of the time.
  • Appointment to this position is subject to a one-year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315. While probationary the incumbent can be terminated with limited appeal rights.

Proficiency Requirement: This position requires a qualified typist. A qualified typist can type 40 words per minute based on a 5 minute sample with three or fewer errors. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: ClericalCustomer Service (Clerical/Technical)Personnel Action Processing and Recordkeeping Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-06).
