As a journeyman Air Conditioning Equipment Mechanic assigned to Engineering Service at the Orlando VA Medical Center, Orlando, Florida, responsible to perform overhaul, installation, maintenance, modification, and repair of various types of air conditioning equipment which is characterized by moderate complexity of design, construction, and function performing schedule preventive maintenance inspections, systematic troubleshooting.
Duties
Duties include but are not limited to:
Perform scheduled preventative maintenance inspections, systematic troubleshooting, maintenance and repair of various sizes and types of refrigeration and air conditioning equipment and system components.
Repair, install and modify all types of air conditioning, heat and ventilation duct work.
Install, maintain and repair tubing valves, fittings, castings, and equipment by welding, brazing, soldering and flaring.
Examine equipment for damage and replace parts if needed.
Construct dust barriers and/or block off areas as needed.
Assist other maintenance personnel with similar trade assignments.
Able to use standard tools and specialized test equipment such as Probe multimeter, volt ohm meter, charging manifold, sling psychrometer, psychometric chart, belt gauge, torch and soldering materials.
Work Schedule: Monday-Friday, Tuesday-Saturday or Sunday-Thursday, 7:00am-3:30pm, 3:00pm-11:30pm or 11:00pm-7:30am

Physical Requirements: Must be physically fit as work involves lifting, pulling, climbing, crawling, working with hands over head, working in confined areas, and using arm and back muscles in tightening of connections. Must have ability to be on feet for long periods either standing, walking, working off ladder, or staging materials, and lift equipment weighing 60 pounds and over.
