The primary purpose of this position is: To serve as Chief of Individual Protective Equipment (LGRMSP) by managing the IPE warehouse and Weapons Vault operations including ordering, receipt, inspection, storage, distribution, recovery and disposition of weapons and mobility assets.
Duties
Responsible for storage of mobility equipment and maintains proper storage for Individual Body Armor (IBA), cold-weather gear, A, B and C mobility bags.
Provide support to customers and team within IPE element.
Responsible for inventory management of weapons and munitions and conducts the issue, turn-in and semiannual inventory of group weapons, ammunition and equipment.
Represents the Individual Protective Equipment Element with installation and functional area organizations.
Performs administrative support functions and maintains an effective working relationship with team, customers and leadership.
Exercises supervisory personnel management responsibilities.

- May occasionally be required to work other than normal duty hours and/or Shift work may be required which may include overtime and/or irregular hours.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
- This position has been designated by the Air Force as a Testing Designated Position (TDP) under the Air Force Civilian Drug Demand Reduction Program.
- Employee must pass initial and periodic short notice drug testing. Illegal drug use by employees in sensitive positions presents a clear threat to the mission of the Air Force, national security, and public safety.
- The work requires the employee to drive a motor vehicle/material handling equipment. An appropriate, valid driver’s license is required for the position.
- This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) of the Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968.
- An individual convicted of a qualifying crime of domestic violence may not perform the duties of this position.
- Must obtain and maintain small arms/M18 qualifications during transportation of weapons, exercises, mobility, and deployments.
- Must undergo initial and periodic job compatibility assessments and obtain and maintain current required certifications in CPR techniques, self-aid and buddy care, and first aid.
- Work may occasionally require travel away from the normal duty station on military or commercial aircraft/vehicle to conferences, meetings, or functions away from the duty office/location.
- Travel may include overnight stays and/or temporary duty away from home station.
- A pre-employment physical is required for this position.
Qualifications
In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Clerical and Administrative Support Positions, Supply and Clerical and Technician Series, 2005.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-06, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience includes thorough knowledge of governing supply regulations, policies, procedures, and instructions and an intensive knowledge of local supply requirements to ensure supply support for overhaul, repair, or other operations for urgent, critical shortage, and other special items such as ensuring supply support required for critical mobility equipment and assets. Knowledge of office automation software procedures and function keys to produce a wide range of documents that require complex formats, such as graphics or tables within text, to edit and reformat electronic drafts, and to update and revise existing databases or spreadsheets.
FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-06 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-07 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks. NOTE: Applicants applying as VEOA candidates who are current GS civil service employees or are prior GS civil service employees within the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
Knowledge of supply operations, program requirements, and administrative policies and practices to analyze, evaluate, and manage functions related to receiving, maintaining, and issuing individual protective equipment.
Knowledge of safety, security, personnel management, and EEO regulations, practices, and procedures.
Knowledge of governing supply regulations, policies, procedures, and instructions to include applicable explosive safety standards and security programs.
Knowledge of data entry and processing of supply transactions in automated supply inventory and accountability systems.
Ability to plan, organize, and direct the functions and staff of a small to medium sized organization.
Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
