This position is under the VA Loma Linda Healthcare System, under the Associate Director of Operations Interior Design. The Primary function of the incumbent as an Interior Designer under the Interior Design Section for environment of care improvement by overseeing and assisting with construction projects, moves, space planning, master planning and interior design standards.
Duties

Duties include but may not be limited to:
Creates designs and furnishes VA buildings and medical facilities.
Prepares and maintains interior design budget.
Advises management officials of program defects and required actions.
Performs a variety of space planning functions.
Reviews construction drawings, including lighting plans, reflected ceiling plans, finish, door and hardware schedules, telephone and electrical specifications and plans, furniture specifications and plans, architectural detailing, details and millwork, and coordinates color and finishes for all spaces.
Work Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00am - 4:30pm

Qualifications
To apply for this position, you must have the following qualifications:
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: One (1) full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level (GS 9) in the Federal Service. Qualifying specialized experience requires the performance of work concerned with the design and alteration of interior spaces to meet functional and aesthetic needs such as: Identifying, researching, and creatively solving problems pertaining to the function and quality of the interior environment; performing services relative to interior spaces, including design analysis, space planning and aesthetics, using specialized knowledge of interior construction, building systems and components, building codes, equipment, materials, and furnishings; preparing drawings and documents relative to the design of interior spaces in order to enhance and protect the health, safety, and welfare of the public; coordinating and integrating the mechanical, electrical, and structural engineering disciplines within the interior context; managing projects, developing cost estimates, reviewing construction documents, participating in on-site construction visits, conducting pre- and post-occupancy evaluations, developing standards for efficient space management. SUBSTITUTION OF EDUCATION FOR EXPERIENCE (TRANSCRIPT REQUIRED): Possess a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or three (3) full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree, or LL.M., if related, with major study in interior design or other field that included or was supplemented by at least 30 semester hours in interior design, interior architecture, or interior environmental design; or passage of the National Council for Interior Design Qualification (NCIDQ) examination. This education must have been obtained in an accredited college or university. One year of full-time graduate education is considered to be the number of credit hours that the school attended has determined to represent one (1) year of full-time study. If that number cannot be obtained from the school, 18 semester hours will be considered an academic year of graduate study. Part-time graduate education is creditable in accordance with its relationship to a year of full-time study at the school attended. NOTE: Transcripts must be submitted with application. IMPORTANT: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. All experience listed on your resume must include the month and year start/end dates. Physical Requirements:
Administrative work can be done while seated, as at a drawing board or computer keyboard. Frequent walking, standing, bending and stooping is required during field surveys and installation of project work, can be up to 8 hours per day.
