THIS IS AN ARMY NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION. This National Guard position is for a TITLE 32 AIRCRAFT SURVIVAL FLIGHT EQUIPMENT REPAIRER (MI AASF1), Position Description Number D0672000 and is part of the MI AASF 1, Michigan Army National Guard.

Duties

***THIS IS A TITLE 32 NATIONAL GUARD POSITION THAT REQUIRES MILITARY MEMBERSHIP*** This position is located in the operations section of an Army Aviation Support Facility (AASF), Army Aviation Flight Activity (AAFA)or Aviation Classification repair Activity Depot (AVCRAD).The Aviation Life Support Equipment (ALSE) Technician provides inspection, maintenance, adjustment, modification and repair of Aviation Life Support Equipment (ALSE) equipment. The ALSE technician provides the required maintenance and supply functions for all ALSE equipment. Provides initial and continuation training and instruction on the use and care of ALSE equipment. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 1. Inspects and maintains ALSE for aviators and crew members. ALSE includes helmets with communication gear and weapon sighting device, survival vests comprised of various components, survival radios, cold/hot/overwater survival kits, life rafts/life preservers, oxygen masks, first aid kits, night vision goggles, torso harness assemblies, flight clothing, anti exposure assemblies, and body armor. 2. Manages a Central Issue Facility (CIF) for ALSE and flight clothing. Conducts initial issue, fitting and adjustments for comfort and safety. 3. Conducts an effective ALSE training program for crew members, non-crew-members and civilian technicians. Prepares and presents instructions on the purpose, operation, use and care of ALSE equipment. 4. Serves as a back-up position for the Flight Operations Specialist. Provides administrative support and assistance for flight operations and flight service functions. 5. Requirements

  • This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the Michigan Army National Guard, required prior to the effective date of placement.
  • Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform.

  • Applicants who are not currently a member of the Michigan Army National Guard must be eligible for immediate membership and employment in the Michigan Army National Guard in the military grade listed in this announcement.

Qualifications

Military Grades: E5- W-02 SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Months Required: 12 Months Experience or training which demonstrates the applicant's knowledge of materials and equipment used in the line of work (helmets, torso harness assemblies, parachutes, survival equipment). Ability to understand written instructions and to use reference materials and manuals. Experience or training which has demonstrated knowledge of aviation life support equipment. Experience reading and interpreting military manuals. Experience in supply procedures and property accountability.
