About the Position: Serves as an IMCOM Army Community Service Family Advocacy Program Prevention Specialist, assigned to the Solider and Family Well-Being Branch with Headquarters, U.S. Army Installation Management Command (IMCOM) located at Fort Sam Houston, Texas.

Duties

Advisor to the Director, Family Programs, IMCOM Family Advocacy Program Manager (FAPM), IMCOM leadership and Senior Army officials on all matters relating to the Domestic Violence and Child Abuse education and prevention services. Directs Army-wide Family Advocacy Programs as assigned which include, coordinating Fatality Review requirements, Serious Incidents Reports, Data Call Metric Reports, Represents the HQ IMCOM, FAPM, Army Community Service (ACS) Division Chief or Director, Family Programs at related committees throughout Department of Army and other federal level agencies as assigned Provides technical assistance, policy interpretations and consultation on program and program evaluation/accountability issues. Proposes, develops and writes training curriculum and service contracts for development and implementation of the Family Advocacy Program’s education, prevention and treatment projects. Analyzes resourcing requirements and options for assigned programs.

  • This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment.
  • This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 30% of the time.

Additional information about transcripts is in this document. Basic Requirement for Family Advocacy Program Specialist A. Degree: Bachelor's degree (or higher degree) in behavioral or social science, or related disciplines appropriate to the position, such as Behavior or social sciences: Sociology, Social Work, Human Services, Psychology. OR B. Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience that provided the applicant with knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field. OR C. Experience: Four years of appropriate experience that demonstrated that the applicant has acquired knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field. In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes experience with developing, evaluating and assessing Family Advocacy Programs (FAP) relating to Domestic Violence and Child Abuse education and prevention services. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12 or above). Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-12).
