This position is located with the Bureau of Indian Aff\airs, Northwest Region, Wapato Irrigation, Branch of Irrigation, in Wapato, Washington.

NOTE: TRAVEL AND RELOCATION EXPENSES WILL NOT BE AUTHORIZED. ANY RELOCATION EXPENSES ASSOCIATED WITH REPORTING FOR DUTY WILL BE THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE SELECTED EMPLOYEE.
Duties
Monitor pump stations by means of mechanical and electronic measuring devices which give visual readouts or audio alarms.
Report monitoring information to those responsible for remedial actions and records incidents in plant logbook.
Record bearing temperatures, elevations, pump RPM, pressures, and cubic feet per second readings for pumps. Reports variances to supervisors.
Check and clean trash racks and cooling system screens on a routine basis. Operate and maintain trash rack cleaners, removing and disposing of accumulated waste material.
Perform routine maintenance as assigned or as prescribed in standard procedures.
Perform general housekeeping chores in and around assigned plants, including yard and custodial duties such as cleaning and painting.
Assist Pump Operators with annual maintenance, repair or overhauls of pumping plant equipment.

- Position is SEASONAL and subject to PLACEMENT IN NON-PAY STATUS when services are not needed due to lack of work, funds, or unforeseen circumstances as designated during the year, a minimum of 2 weeks and maximum of 26 weeks.
Qualifications
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE:
As a PUMP AND POWER PLANT ATTENDANT, incumbent must have the ability to do the work under close supervision of a work leader to operate a pump station and complete work assignments timely and safely. Work examples such as independently troubleshoot and take initiative to solve problems; knowledge of technical trade terminology tools and use of equipment; possess strong work ethics, dexterity and perform strenuous work as required. Ability to use computer, maintain records, and perform simple arithmetic calculations.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: The Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Job Qualifications System for Trades and Labor Occupations (X-118C, Qualification Standard Handbook) will be used in determining applicants' qualifications. There is no specific length of training or experience required; however, you must be able to demonstrate through the experience shown in your written resume and your responses to the Occupational Questionnaire that you possess the competencies to perform the duties of this position without more than normal supervision.
