This position is established for the purpose of performing a wide variety of general laboring duties in support of the grounds maintenance and beautification functions.
Duties
Performs a wide variety of general laboring duties in support of grounds maintenance and beautification functions such as follows:
Mows grass and clips hedges, shrubs, and other plants using hand or self-propelled mowing and clipping equipment.
Digs ditches, holes, and trenches using pick and shovel.
Fills and tamps earth.
Shovels dirt and waste material into wheelbarrows or containers.
Loads and unloads trucks per instructions.
Removes snow and ice from steps, sidewalks, and building entrances using shovels, snow blowers and power brooms.
Applies de-icing materials by hand or with spreaders as directed.
Drives vehicles as needed.
Work Schedule: 7:00am to 3:30pm

Evidence which demonstrates you possess the knowledge, skills, and ability to perform the duties of this position must be supported by detailed descriptions of such on your resume. Applicants will be rated in accordance with the OPM Federal Wage System Qualification Standards.

Note: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Applicants wishing to receive credit for such experience must indicate clearly the nature of their duties and responsibilities in each position and the number of hours a week spent in such employment.
Physical Requirements/Working Conditions: The work requires heavy lifting, moderate to strenuous physical effort, and prolonged standing and walking.
