This position is established for the purpose of performing a wide variety of general laboring duties in support of the grounds maintenance and beautification functions.

Duties

Performs a wide variety of general laboring duties in support of grounds maintenance and beautification functions such as follows: Mows grass and clips hedges, shrubs, and other plants using hand or self-propelled mowing and clipping equipment. Digs ditches, holes, and trenches using pick and shovel. Fills and tamps earth. Shovels dirt and waste material into wheelbarrows or containers. Loads and unloads trucks per instructions. Removes snow and ice from steps, sidewalks, and building entrances using shovels, snow blowers and power brooms. Applies de-icing materials by hand or with spreaders as directed. Drives vehicles as needed.
