This position is located in the Division of Finance, Corporate Planning and Performance Management (CPPM) Branch of the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation and provides support in the areas of maintaining and improving the Corporation's financial reporting operations.  Additional selections may be made from this vacancy announcement to fill identical vacancies that occur subsequent to this announcement.

Duties

Identifying the reporting needs of the budget management community. Capturing requirements, identifying and connecting to data sources, creating data sets, and developing reports that users can run at their convenience. Analyzing data for trends and anomalies, and creating dashboards and visualizations to depict relevant information for leadership and analysts.  Gathering, developing, and prioritizing requirements for information products. Developing and executing test scripts and plans for reporting system upgrades and releases of new or modified reports. Assisting clients with business understanding of data and explaining the impact of a variety of business and technical issues and events on reports and queries. Managing and maintaining a resource for reports, information, and systems used for management information or decision support which may include sensitive data.  Reporting relevant information to help identify risks while mitigating data sensitivity concerns. Providing project management and team leadership in major reporting projects by establishing goals, objectives, milestones, task assignments, guidelines, controls, schedules, and timetables. Representing Division of Finance as a participant in design teams for other major corporate systems initiatives that potentially impact budgeting and management reporting. Participating in decision-making sessions and advising program managers on the availability of data, which can be used to analyze and improve program performance throughout the Corporation. Maintaining lines of communication with other areas in the corporation for the purposes of coordinating and keeping all impacted parties apprised of significant production changes.  Helping to provide technical systems training to corporate employees.

Qualifications

Qualifying experience may be obtained in the private or public sector. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic, religious/spiritual; community; student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Additional qualifications information can be found here. To qualify, applicants must have completed at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the 13 grade level or above in the Federal service.  Specialized experience is defined as  experience developing custom reports, visualizations, and dashboards for clients using business intelligence or reporting software; and writing database queries, analyzing data quality, transforming and cleansing data, and reconciling or validating results. Applicants must have met the qualification requirements (including selective placement factors – if any) for this position within 30 calendar days of the closing date of this announcement.
