You will serve as a Freight Rate Specialist in the Distribution Management Office, Logistics Division, Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center Twentynine Palms. The duty station Twentynine Palms, CA.
Duties
You will plan and carry out shipping arrangements.
You will accept, prepare, and issue all documentation required to ship and receive freight.
You will distribute and balance the workload for the Freight Administrative Section.
You will determine freight classification for a variety of unusual and standard items, some of which have no recorded or published classification.
You will conduct pre- and post-audits and maintains shipping documentation.
You will determine the appropriate freight classification and shipment method for outgoing material based on size/weight, priority, and required delivery date.
You will apply knowledge of regulations regarding the movement of Dangerous/Hazardous materials IAW with the 49CFR or other applicable policies and instructions, and publications.
You will utilize knowledge of tariff rates and related and regulatory guidance for the movement and routing of all types of freight.
Requirements

- Must be determined suitable for federal employment.

Qualifications
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-06) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector procuring common carrier and other transportation service by rail, motor, air, water, and/or miscellaneous means for freight and/or materials and performing the following:
1) Determining the appropriate freight classification and shipment method for outgoing material based on size/weight, priority, and required delivery date.
2) Accepting preparing, and issuing all documentation required for ship and receive freight.
2) Applying knowledge of regulations regarding the movement of Dangerous/Hazardous materials IAW with the 49CFR or other applicable policies and instructions, and publications.
3) Utilizing thorough knowledge of tariff rates and related and regulatory guidance for the movement and routing of freight.
4) Communicating effectively and working well with others.
5) Responding to situations and/or problems when assisting customers, organizations, and contractors.
6) Utilizing databases, and office automation software to maintain shipping documentation
