This position is located in the Morale, Welfare and Recreation Department, Navy Region Southwest. The primary purpose of this position is to ensure through lower graded employees the efficient operation of bowling facility equipment
Duties
Supervises, trains and directs the activities of subordinate bowling equipment repairers, workers, laborers, maintenance workers, custodial workers and other assigned personnel in performing a variety of work assignments relative to the maintenance and repair of bowling facility equipment.
As a working foreman this position installs, adjusts, repairs, overhauls and regularly inspects bowling facility electrical, electronic and mechanical equipment to include, but not limited to automatic pinsetters, automatic ball returns, AS-90 automatic scorers and foul units, automatic cleaners and lane maintenance machines. Diagnoses malfunctioning equipment referring to manuals for diagrams and specifications. Follows manufacturer's maintenance schedules, but makes changes as necessary. Disassembles and replaces or repairs mechanical and electrical components or parts using soldering irons, wrenches, pliers, screwdrivers and other hand tools. Cleans and lubricates machines. Measures and regulates sweep of rakes on automatic pinsetters using hand tools and gauges. Runs pinsetter through complete cycle and inspects for pin setting accuracy.
Responsible for the maintenance and repairs to all building equipment, exterior and interior structures, furniture, electrical circuits, fixtures, appliances, plumbing, door closures and hardware, floors, carpeting walls, ceilings and washer and dryer.
Initiates, performs and follows up on preventive maintenance schedules in accordance with the American Bowling Congress and manufacturers standards.
Conditions, maintains and repairs bowling pins and lanes to include, but not limited to, repairing cracks, chips and splinters using wood and plastic lane stock, sanding and recoating surfaces. Schedules for repairs, refinishing and rotation of bins.
Maintains complete history record on all equipment outlining all repair parts and consumables issued or received.
Performs service call assistance in repairs or adjustments to all equipment.
Establishes work schedules. Determines work priorities, checks work in progress and when completed, checks for compliance with sequence, procedures, methods and deadlines. Answers worker's questions regarding procedures, policies, written instructions and directives. Keeps supervisor informed on status and progress of work; causes of delays; overall work operations and problems, which require corrective action.
Responsible for submitting appropriate paperwork and/or purchase orders for supplies, parts, materials and equipment for authorized projects. Ensures accurate receipt of items. Maintains records and reports.
Responsible for conducting inventories at required intervals of supplies and equipment; determines discrepancies of short and damaged items and advises supervisor. Accounts for all property assigned.
Conducts training programs for assigned personnel in proper performance of their duties, use of efficient work methods and safe practices. Ensures attendance of staff to required training classes and physicals.
Observes all safety rules and reports all accident and/or existing or potential hazards to supervisory personnel.
Performs general housekeeping tasks, to ensure proper standards of appearance, cleanliness and safety of assigned spaces.
Carries out EEO policies and communicates support of these policies to subordinates. Assures quality in determining selections, assignments, training, promotions, details, qualifications, discipline and awards to employees. Cooperates and participates fully in the development of an EEO Affirmative Action plan and its effects regarding staffing, motivation and training to develop all employees. Ensures that minorities and women are considered for training opportunities and are also nominated/appointed to boards and committees. Coordinates efforts with EEO officials during the development of policies.

Requirements
- Must successfully pass the E-Verify employment verification check. Any discrepancies must be resolved as a condition of employment.
- Must meet federal suitability requirements including successful completion of background investigation.
- Works inside in an adequately lighted and heated area exposed to possible cuts and bruises in the use of hand tools. Exposed to dust and dirt.
- Incumbent is required to stand, stoop, bend, kneel, climb and work in tiring and uncomfortable positions. Lifts objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
Qualifications
Three years of experience in Bowling Facility and equipment maintenance.
Knowledge of a variety of automatic bowling equipment and ability to repair bowling machinery.
Skill in the use of a wide variety of equipment and tools.
Ability to make adjustments to equipment.
Knowledge of inventory procedures.
Ability to supervise and train.
Knowledge of carpentry, plumbing, electrical air conditioning, washer and dryers, air compressors, lawn equipment, etc.
Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
Ability to communicate effectively with others.
Must pass a pre-employment physical.
Must be able to provide pre-employment documentation within three days.
Education
A high school diploma or GED is preferred.
