This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain DoD Personnel to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.
About the Position: You will perform the full range of maintenance and repair services in connection with industrial, electronic, electrical-electronic, electro-mechanical controls as contained on various equipment systems.
NOTE: The duty location of this position will be wherever the Mat Sinking Unit is located.
Duties
Installs, maintains, troubleshoots and provides repair services in connection with industrial, electronic, electrical-electronic and electro-mechanical controls on various equipment and systems.
Answers trouble calls and checks circuits, wiring, transistors etc. and locates and diagnoses malfunctions.
Corrects trouble by replacing or repairing defective parts and components.
Uses testing equipment such as transistor tester, oscilloscope, volt-ohm meter, ammeter, and megger for testing and trouble shooting circuits and components.
Examines condition of points, switches, field coils, brushes, commutators, etc.; adjusts, replaces and cleans same.
Identifies weak spots and potential trouble areas and repairs or replaces components to avoid possible future failure.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Successful complete a pre-employment physical as well as annual physicals.
- Work in inclement weather.
- Must pass pre-employment drug screen as well as random drug screenings.

There is no specific length of training or experience required. However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision.
Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) Electronic Industrial Controls Mechanic~ without more than normal supervision. Duties include: installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing various types of electronically controlled industrial equipment and/or machinery; answering trouble calls and checking circuits, wiring, and transistors; and performing preventative maintenance on equipment. - Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating.
Physical Effort: Work assignments require moderate physical effort. Frequent climbing via ladders and/stairs. Moderate lifting up to 40 pounds, with occasional lifting to 50 pounds. Lifting equipment is available for heavier jobs. Long periods of stooping, stretching, bending, and kneeling may be required when working in hard-to-reach places.
Working Conditions: Works inside and outside subject to hazards of moving machinery, noise, fumes,combustible fuels, falling overboard and high voltage shock and burns. Subject to injury from tools and working in cramped quarters while making field repairs.
