About the Position: This position is located at the Naval Health Clinic Oak Clinic Washington. The incumbent will serve as a Financial Specialist within the Uniform Business Office (UBO) which is divided into four (4) areas: Medical Services Accounts (MSA), Trauma, Third Party Collections (TPC), and Medical Affirmative Claims (MAC).

Duties

The Financial Specialist will review, and research data obtained in the current medical records, dental records, and billing systems to identify billable encounters. Verify with third party payers or other health insurance parties. Validate correct billing and post checks as third-party insurance payments into the current billing system. Reconcile accounts, prepare, analyze, examine and maintain reports and account data. Accomplish work processes by using numerous manual and automation systems and software programs.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment.
  • Appointment to this position is subject to a one-year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.
  • This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 10% of the time.
  • Due to the nature of this position, employees may require to work both planned and unscheduled overtime.
  • This position is subject to screening and update of required immunizations.
  • This position has a mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirement and is subject to annual vaccination.
  • This Position requires the employee to Obtain Financial Management Certification Level 2 within " 2 Years of Employment, Failure to obtain this certification within the required time may subject the incumbent to adverse action.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07). OR Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: Accounting, Finance, Business, HealthCare Finance, Data Analytics, Management, Information Systems, Project Management. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.) OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Accounting OperationsBudget AdministrationComputer SkillsFinancial Management Analysis Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-07).
