The primary purpose of this position is to identify and analyze maintenance and sustainment concerns for weapon systems, repair part sources, maintenance procedures, and any limiting factors to inform leadership on weapon system capability gaps and risk to mission.

Duties

Assesses overall infrastructure sustainment across multiple service components and units. Technical expert on infrastructure, sustainment, readiness, and other technical areas in consultation with Joint Staff, Service Components, and subordinate units. Provides life-cycle logistics functional expertise. Performs analytical and interpretive tasks and is the technical consultant to the Chief of the Logistics Division, the Director of Logistics and leadership in determining total life-cycle systems management requirements and objectives. Monitors worldwide location, configuration, condition and operational status of USSTRATCOM infrastructure and sustainment using various classified/unclassified automated management systems. Logistics Mission Area Expert (LogMAE) in the Joint Logistics Operations Center (JLOC) in the Command's Global Operations Center (GOC) and continuity of operations locations.

  • A Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited institution in mathematics, computer science, one of the physical sciences, engineering or a closely-related scientific discipline is highly desired. Advanced degree(s) are preferred.

Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Administrative and Management Positions, Logistics Management Series 0346. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower broadband NH-02, equivalent to the next to lower grade GS-11 or equivalent in the Federal Service. Specialized experience must include knowledge of unified command policies, functions, and operations to interpret, evaluate, and disseminate plans, policy, and procedures for national level programs. Knowledge of mission and forces, including supported and supporting command relationships of apportioned and assigned forces. Due to the destructive potential and political sensitivity of nuclear infrastructure and the exceptionally serious implications of accidents or incidents involving them or their associated delivery systems, extensive technical knowledge of nuclear surety and logistics support requirements is mandatory. Technical knowledge and background in the complexities of nuclear/conventional munitions and their associated delivery platforms, forms the basis of the employee's ability to advise senior leaders as to current mission capability and potential problem areas. Knowledge of the deliberate and adaptive planning process and the planning, programming, and budgeting system. Knowledge of logistics principles, practices, and organizational structure needed to assess feasibility and effectiveness of a range of plans and programs. Knowledge of services infrastructure management philosophy to develop methods for the analysis and display of program management, planning, and schedule information. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: Knowledge of unified command policies, functions, and operations to interpret, evaluate, and disseminate plans, policy, and procedures for national level programs. Ability to clearly articulate objectives, in group settings, garner required support, and build consensus using developed interpersonal skills. Ability to assess current and projected programs for effectiveness in achieving command objectives. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing; negotiate complex issues; and maintain good working relationships with diverse groups and executive-level command management. PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
