The primary purpose of the position is to perform a wide variety of standard and non-standard administrative support and clerical tasks and resolution of recurring, and to a lesser degree, non-recurring problems in support of human resources, budget, acquisition and property management, and other administrative support services, and to perform staff support work in each of these areas.

Duties

The major duties of the Administrative Support Assistant (Office Automation) position include, but are not limited to, the following: Advisory Services: Provides accurate and reliable information on the administrative functions of the park, give briefings on administrative topics; schedules events/meetings as necessary. Budget and Financial Management: Serves as technical resource on travel policies and regulations, provides information on travel allowances and requirements. Acquisition and Property Management: Produce Purchase Requests and Receiving Reports using the FBMS software program. Purchase, manage uniform program, write justifications, reconcile purchases using third party drafts and Government Purchase Cards within federal procurement regulations. Human Resources Management: Provides human resources information and assistance to the unit. Serves as the primary timekeeper for the unit. Office Services and Information Management: Use computer running Windows operating systems in a local area network environment. Employee can: use, support and teach work processing, spreadsheets and database management (Microsoft Office), use electronic mail programs, work with scanners, back-up drives, fax machines, copiers, and other computer peripherals and troubleshoot. Qualifications

All qualifications must be met by the closing date of this announcement-10/11/2024-unless otherwise stated in this vacancy announcement. Credit will be given for all appropriate qualifying experience. To receive credit for experience, your resume MUST clearly indicate the nature of the duties and responsibilities for each position, starting and ending dates of employment (month/year), and the resume must reflect full and/or part-time or total number of hours worked (i.e., work 40+ hours a week, rather than indicating full-time). If part-time, the hours must be annotated to be able to pro-rate the amount of qualified specialized experience. SELECTIVE FACTOR: This position performs office automation, and the position is required to type 40 words per minute. Candidates who do not meet this requirement by close of this announcement will receive no further consideration for this position. - AND - To qualify for this position at the GS-04 grade level, you must possess at least one of the following minimum qualifications by close of the announcement: EXPERIENCE: Possess at least one year of general experience. General experience is progressively responsible clerical, office or other work that indicates ability to acquire the particular knowledge and skills needed to perform the duties of this position. Examples of general experience include, but are not limited to, preparing letters and memos, operating a variety of office equipment, answering telephones and greeting visitors, disseminating information, providing information, etc. You must include hours per week worked. -OR- EDUCATION: Have two years of successfully completed education above the high school in any field of study for which high school graduation or the equivalent was a prerequisite. (This education must have been obtained in an accredited business, secretarial, or technical school, junior college, college, or university. One year of full-time academic study is defined as 30 semester hours, 45 quarter hours in a college or university, or at least 20 hours of classroom instruction per week for 36 weeks in a business, secretarial, or technical school). IMPORTANT - PLEASE NOTE: If you are using education to qualify you must document your course work and/or degree completed in your resume or other application materials you submit. You must submit a copy of your transcripts or a complete list of college courses taken that identifies for each course the college or university, semester or quarter hours earned, grade received, and date completed. For example, I have six (6) months of general experience (50% of the experience requirements for this position and grade level) combined with one year of education as outlined in 1B above (50% of the education required to qualify). To qualify for this position at the GS-05 grade level, you must possess at least one of the following minimum qualifications by close of the announcement: EXPERIENCE: Have at least one year of specialized experience comparable in difficulty and responsibility to the GS-04 level in the Federal service. Specialized experience is experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of an Administrative Support Assistant (OA), and that is typically in or related to the position to be filled. Examples of specialized experience may include but is not limited to, knowledge of maintaining a filing system both electronic and hard copy, the use of computers to develop correspondence, memos, forms and other standardized documents, experience preparing time and attendance, the administrative processes and procedures in travel, and knowledge of commonly used software including word processing. You must include hours per week worked. -OR- EDUCATION: have at least four years of education above high school (120 semester hours or 180 quarter hours) leading to a bachelor's degree with courses related to the occupation, such as in business administration, recreation management, public relations, and/or communications, or that included or was supplemented by at least 24 semester hours in such subjects. IMPORTANT - PLEASE NOTE: If you are using education to qualify you must document your course work and/or degree completed in your resume or other application materials you submit. You must submit a copy of your transcripts or a complete list of college courses taken that identifies for each course the college or university, semester or quarter hours earned, grade received, and date completed. If you are qualifying based on education and you do not submit specific course work information as described previously, your application will be rated not qualified for consideration. NOTE: Only education in excess of the first 60 semester hours of a course of study leading to a bachelor's degree is creditable toward meeting the specialized experience requirements. Two full academic years of study, or 60 semester hours, beyond the second year is equivalent to 1 year of specialized experience. For example, I have 6 months of the specialized experience described in A above (50% of the experience requirement), and 3 years of college study from an accredited institution (50% of the qualifying education) which included at least 12 semester hours of related coursework as specified above (50% of the related coursework required). You must include transcripts. Volunteer Experience: Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

To qualify based on education, you must submit a legible copy of transcripts from an accredited institution with your name, school name, credit hours, course level, major(s), and grade-point average or class ranking. Transcripts do not need to be official, but if you are selected for this position and you used your education to qualify, you must provide official transcripts before you begin work.
