The employee will serve as the Quality Assurance Specialist in the Operations Division at the Edward Hines Jr. VA Hospital in Hines, IL. The employee is primarily responsible for providing direct daily production quality control monitoring and warehouse supply oversight.
Duties

Duties include, but may not be limited to the following:
Monitoring the workflow of products and supplies received.
Performing routine reviews of the automated supply procurement and inventory management systems.
Monitoring supply procurement and inventory management systems for quality deviations or errors.
Carrying out recurring inspection procedures to ensure daily warehousing activities are accurate and efficient.
Screening inbound and outbound warehouse orders to verify order fulfillment correctness.
Developing and implementing policies that ensure audit compliance.
Scheduling, facilitating and reviewing periodic inventories to ensure on-hand product levels are accurate.
Collecting data through process audits for analyzing and investigating adverse quality trends to initiate corrective action in a warehousing environment.
Conducting research to determine the reason for overdue shipments, quantity overages or shortages and wrong items received.
Preparing and presenting written analysis of quality assurance activities.
Working with team leaders and section supervisors to resolve inventory and supply chain quality concerns.
Handling conflicts and problems dealing with the customer constructively and appropriately.
Utilizing software and computer applications to maintain and update QA reports.
Performing other related duties as assigned.
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00 am - 4:30 pm

Qualifications
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must possess at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-7 level in the Federal service. This experience must have equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of this position, and that is typically in or related to the work of this position. Specialized experience includes: a practical knowledge in monitoring, controlling, or maintaining the quality of products or services in quality assurance, procurement, inspection, production, or related areas. Examples include: reviewing production activities and capabilities in light of contract quality requirements; reviewing written quality or inspection procedures for adequacy and evaluating the implementation and effectiveness of quality/inspection systems, including sampling plans; analyzing quality data to detect unsatisfactory trends or weaknesses in the quality/inspection system; verifying by test or inspection, using sampling inspection or intensive product inspection techniques, that products comply with requirements prior to acceptance; identifying inadequacies and requesting corrective action; computing data, summarizing results and preparing reports or charts depicting pertinent relationships using statistical methods; investigating customer complaints and deficiency reports and providing identification of causes to appropriate authorities; reading, interpreting and applying technical data such as blueprints, engineering drawings, product specifications or technical manuals; reviewing and evaluating supply systems operations and procedures through periodic audits and surveillance inspections.

SUBSTITUTION OF EDUCATION FOR EXPERIENCE: Applicants must possess a master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.B. or J.D., if related. This education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of this position. (TRANSCRIPT REQUIRED)

COMBINATION OF EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Possess equivalent combinations of education and specialized experience (as described above) to meet the requirements. NOTE: Only graduate education beyond the first year may be used to qualify. (TRANSCRIPT REQUIRED)

Physical Requirements: The position requires constant standing, walking, bending and some lifting in performing the various surveillance requirements. Lifting cartons in excess of 50 pounds.
